Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of RSVP Precision Pierced Stainless-Steel 5-Quart ColanderCustomer Review: RSVP Precision Stainless Colanders Summary: 5 Stars
Needing a new colander, and based on a cooking magazine review, I purchased a 3 qt. RSVP Precision Pierced Stainless Steel colander. I truly expected it to work the same as the stainless colanders I have been using for the past 40 years. Boy, was I ever wrong! This colander is so far superior at quick drainage and easy cleanup, that I not only purchased the five quart size for myself, I am going to purchase one for my daughter and for each daughter-in-law (or son), despite the cost. Pasta used to get stuck in the holes in my old colanders, making them miserable to clean. Nothing gets stuck in the holes of the RSVP colanders. A quick swiped with soapy water and they are clean. They are so easy to clean that there really is no need to put them in the diswasher. Like others, I wish that the handles were more securely attached, but so far I am extremely pleased with this product. Just make sure that you order the correct RSVP product. There is a less expensive version that is not at all what this one is; it is a fine mesh and does not work the way this one does.
Customer Review: The Best Colander I have Summary: 5 Stars
This is one beautiful colander. It's nice and sturdy and easy to clean but, I would strongly recommend drying it completely after washing to keep it looking good. I really like those handles too." I'm seriously thinking about ordering another one. This is the best colander I have. It sure beats those plastic ones and the food does not get caught in the holes like it does on some other ones. Cook's Illustrated was right on about this one and even though it is rather expensive, it's worth the money in quality and looks. I hope they decide to make a larger one.
Customer Review: A simple piece of equipment with an elegant design that does its job right every time Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned several metal or plastic colanders before, but this one beats them all. Put simply, it just works. You can even drain boiled rice in this colander without losing a good portion of your grains down the drain, and without having to wait for the water to slowly drip out of tiny holes. The holes are small enough to trap even the smallest items, but there are so many of them that water literally rushes right out the bottom and sides. I love it.
Customer Review: A great purchase Summary: 5 Stars
The review by Cook's Illustrated Magazine was right on. This colander is sturdy, doesn't tip over in the sink, drains well, cleans well and is attractive. My husband is the vegetable gardener and to get him to use this new colander, I pitched out my 30 year old green Tupperware colander. He likes this RSVP one, too. The 5-qt. size works well for everything.
Customer Review: WHat more could you ask for? Summary: 5 Stars
... as the title suggests, this is the end-all of colanders. Very speedy in draining, which when you are blanching and cold shocking vegetables, or draining a delicate pasta, speed is of the essence. The number of holes in this colander rapidly drains any liquid and it's also perfect for straining a slurry or other thicker-than-water concoction.
