This ricer is so much easier to use than the metal one I tossed a few years ago. The handle is soft and comfortable and makes it easy to use good pressure to press the potatoes through quickly. The ricer hooks on the edge of the pan to keep it securely upright. The potatoes turned out light and fluffy - not gluey like with a mixer. Bonus: I didn't need to add much cream and no butter and had wonderful mashed potatoes. Also, I can't wait to use this to squeeze spinach dry - a messy job in the past, but I like my spinach very dry for things like eggs and quiche. I purchased my ricer a little over a month and have used it several times. With each use, I like this ricer more and more. Though it is plastic, this ricer is very sturdy and is designed very well. The handles are comfortable and I find the pot grip to be useful in keeping the ricer from falling into the pot. I tend to fill the hopper as much as I can, but I haven't had any problem squeezing the potatoes through. Not much force is needed!
The ricing disks are easy to change and clean: just squeeze the two tabs on the insert to remove it from the hopper, change the disk and finally replace the insert.

I really do not like lumps in my mashed potatoes and have steered toward using instant potatoes just to get the smoothness I desire. This potato ricer gives me perfectly smooth potatoes every time. No more instant potatoes for me. These are so much better and do not require a ton a milk and butter to make them whip up nicely. The ricer has a good capacity and the bowl grip is great. Cleanup is a breeze. My kids think it's cool as well, so for the moment I have a couple of extra helpers in the kitchen.
I love this so much that I'm planning on buying a couple of these as gifts for friends and family.

I saw this ricer on America's Test Kitchen. I trust their suggestions on the show and immediately ordered the kitchen ricer for my famous garlic mashed potatoes I planned to make for Thanksgiving dinner. I placed the order Monday figuring there was no way I'd receive it by Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving)as I placed it standard shipping. To my delight I received the ricer Wednesday afternoon! I used it and I LOVE it!!! It's sleek and sturdy. One of my new favorite kitchen gadgets. Amazon's continued better than on-time orders has made me a frequent shopper!Customer Review: Great results!

I really love the results you get from both blades! I never used to make mashed potatos..I used instant..which nowadays isn't all bad (shutter the food tv fans I know!) It's light and I recommend to make sure your hands are dry or use a towel for best grip..you will get the hang of it quick! Now I look forward to other uses like cauliflower or butternut squash for Turkey Day..which I just thought of it's perfect for cranberries!! oh my! And strawberry sauce for cheesecake!! Oh and soften the cream cheese for cheesecake!! and...and...and..
