Before ordering this spoon, I purchased the plastic kind (with the little chicken feet base - quite cute) and egg cup. The cup worked fine, but the plastic spoon was thick and had little traction in getting the eggs out of the shell. It was a struggle, and I still couldn't get all of the egg out.
No such problem with this spoon. The stainless steel is not too thin and not to thick (no chance of breaking the shell with it). And it is long enough (5-1/2") to get to the egg's bottom without struggle. I think it works perfectly.
It also has a smart European design. Don't know how it could be better!
