Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Baby Nasal Aspirator Vacuum Suction Pigeon (Made in Japan)

Customer Review: Awesome product.
Summary: 5 Stars

Seriously, this product is AWESOME! I used to use the bulb-type aspirator and my kid (17 months) hated it. When I used this one, she didn't mind and was so much more cooperative when I'm trying to clean her nose. I'm guessing maybe she doesn't like the intense short burst of suction, and this provides a milder and consistent suction. It works so much better too. You can suck as long as you want, until all the stuff comes out. When buying a product, I usually look at the most negative reviews, to see if there's anything I should be weary about. I would like to address a few of the concerns in those reviews here, just in case people are hesitant after reading them. You can clean the tip by filling the chamber with water (after you rinse out the snot inside), or soap water, and blowing out, and the water will blow out of the tip, washing everything out that might have been stuck inside. As for there being no filter to prevent the snot going into your mouth, you don't need one, unless as someone mentioned, you tip it upside down when there's a lot of snot in there and let it touch the opening to the tube that is on top of the chamber. Or if you don't clean it and it fills up all the way to the top.

I regret not buying one sooner.

Customer Review: I'm so glad I purchased this!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Pigeon nasal aspirator works wonderfully! I did a search on nasal aspirators to try and find one that worked at LEAST as well as the one provided by the hospital, when I ran across this style. After reading the reviews, it intrigued me. With the "blue bulb" from the hospital, there were times when I would suction my son's nose and just when the bulb was back to it's normal shape, I could hear more mucous that was "almost" suctioned out - very frustrating. I decided to go ahead and try this one and see how it worked. The other day, my son had a little bit of a stuffy nose (he's at the tail end of a cold - of course I order this product AFTER the cold!). I decided to give this a try to test it out. Wow, did it work! It requires very little sucking, and my son seemed to be fascinated - he had a little half smile on his face the whole time! It didn't go up his nose - it stays right at the "entrance" - you just wiggle it around, and the suction strength and duration was controlled by me. I just rinsed all of the parts in hot water when I was through. I can't say that I'm looking forward to his next cold, but I CAN say that I'm not worried about him having a stuffy nose! Bring it on!

Customer Review: Fun and effective!

My two month-old is going through his first cold, and I'm so glad we received the pigeon as a baby shower gift. Here are some things I like about this aspirator:
* Easy to use: I have more control with this one compared to the bulb aspirators.
* Easy to clean: it comes apart in three pieces for cleaning, and the translated care instructions say, "use water or warm water."
* Easy to monitor color and thickness of mucus, since it is collected in a clear container.
* Fun to use: My baby and I often find its use amusing (as other reviewers describe); this provides very welcome comic relief at a time when we're not feeling great.
* It's gratifying and comforting to be able to see directly what you are clearing out of your baby's air ways.

I can also recommend following Dr. Sears' "Hose the Nose" method of clearing baby mucus (from The Baby Book) with this product.

Customer Review: THIS THING ROCKS!
Summary: 5 Stars

My parents found this in a Japanese store and as my dad was looking at it wondering what the heck it was a woman came up to him and said it was the best aspirator ever - and then she took the last one. So luckily my dad ended up getting one for us and it has become a lifesaver! We have a 4 month old who has a constant running nose and being able to use this to suck all the mucus out has been great! It is MUCH better than the bulb aspirator which are hard to use, intrusive and difficult to clean. This aspirator is so easy to wash out and being able to control the amount of suction needed it another benefit. It does take a couple of times to get used to using it but once you do you'll never regret buying it! Well worth the $ and I've bought these for friends as well.

One tip: Move the tip of the aspirator around a bit while in the nose to get maximum mucus.

Customer Review: aspirator
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the BEST thing to get all the blockage from my baby's nose. I used to use the bulb and he HATED it and cried like mad. He still cries with this but it's the best. It's easy to clean and i just unscrew the bottom and put in hot water for a few minutes and it's clean. The only problem is if you invert it while sucking air, you might end up with a little nasal discharge in the tube but they tell you to use it while the child is upright so it's your fault if you don;t follow the instructions. It's better than the graco one which i purchased to spare myself the suction, but i went back to using this one as it;s more effective. All aspirators work better if you use nasal saline solutions like physiomer, because they loosen all the yukkies in the nose first, but this one works great on its own. It's easier for your baby to use the solution first though.
