Customer Review: Fantastic idea, but one small problem

Our son turned out to be severely allergic to just about every food imaginable from all dairy to meats to most grains, so transitioning away from breast milk has been exceedingly difficult. We'd invested quite a bit in a large assortment of Avent bottles to avoid needing to wash everything as often since nearly every meal for him consists of special (ever notice how special always equals twice as expensive as normal?) formula, and he has quite the appetite. We used these spouts to transition away from nipples and get used to the sippy cups, and they work fantastically for that purpose. Using them both with bottles and the sippy cups makes a nice standard interface for him to be comfortable with, and decreases the number of valves and tops and doo-dads to keep track of. I echo the sentiment of being extremely grateful that Avent has done this.
The transition went (eventually) extremely well, but I'd like to take one point off of my review for an interesting flaw my son has found. The valve works in such a way as to allow liquid to flow into the spout only when there is suction applied. Unlike some other manufacturers, the valve covers both the spout and the small air-introduction vent. The problem happens when my son decides to blow into the spout - the liquid trapped in the spout after suction ceases unfortunately finds it easier to stay within the valve and leave through the vent instead of going back into the bottle. It usually means that there is some cleanup involved and we can't let him on the carpet with anything other than water, which is tough to break him of since we had no problem allowing it back with nipples. A minor inconvenience, but my son finds a way (as always) to exploit it for my neverending housekeeping enjoyment.
As with anything, your mileage may vary, and your child may not discover the joys of leaking small amounts of liquid after every sip. :)

These are such a nice alternative to having to invest more money into sippy cups once your child is fished with the "bottle". We spent a small fortune on Avent bottles, nipples, etc. only to end up with a son that went from the breast to a sippy cup. However with these handy "spouts" we can turn our small fortune into baby gear that we can continue to use. They are easy to put together and snap in and just as easy to disassemble and wash. Though if not put together correctly and snaped into place tightly they can leak. Overall a worthwhile product and I am extremely pleased with this purchase! Now if only other baby product manufacturers would come up with products that can be repurposed for maximum use -Yea Avent!!Customer Review: NOT SOFT!!!

These are the usual firm plastic spouts, not the soft ones, unless I got the wrong item sent?!? They are green, on my pc they almost looked blue. I should have just gotten the white 6+ month ones. These work just fine, I just have them already. The white soft ones are nice, but they stain. I always see people complaining about avent leaking, I haven't found a sippy cup that doesn't ever leak, these are the best so far. Most of the others are impossible to clean because they have so many darn pieces, this has two pieces that come apart & clean very easily. They just need to change the title of the product!Customer Review: Great sippys

I tried a million different sippy cups, but my daughter just didn't take to the straw valve ones that were too difficult to suck from, or the freeflow BornFree that gave her more than she could handle. The straw cups without valves worked ok for her, but sometimes she would suck up too much and it would go down the wrong pipe.
These spouts were perfect for playful drinking, but she would not take large amounts. Either way, I love that I extended the life of my Avent bottles (which I never used becuase they always seemed to leak) and no new bottles to get in the way. Good value.

please don't waste your money on these spouts that are not a Klean Kanteen product, they are just Avent spouts that you can buy for less than $5 at Target and not have to pay another $4 for shipping.
