Customer Review: Perfect for small meals Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this at the store for $20.
It works as claimed. Takes about 13 minutes for a single serving of pasta. If you really think about it, it takes about three minutes to get a pot out, put water on it and put it on the stove. Allow an additional 7 to 10 minutes to get the water boiling. Another 7 minutes to boil the pasta. Then you have to dump it into a strainer. So not only do you save time, you dont have to clean a pot, and a strainer after you're done.
With the Pasta N More, you just put the pasta in the Pasta N More, throw it in the microwave, hit 13 and start then walk away. No stirring, or having to come back and check on it. Then when the pasta is done, you can then just strain it using the lid, and then throw some sauce into the pasta, nuke it for about another minute and you've saved yourself from having to clean another pot for the sauce!
So to those who think its faster and easier with the stovetop method, think a little more carefully about that.
Customer Review: Worth the money Summary: 4 Stars
I do advise people to read the instructions. "A box" of pasta may be six servings or eight, which means different amounts of water. And add the water after the pasta not before. And cool the pasta immediately to prevent overcooking. Yes, it takes longer in the microwave, but if you're an absent-minded cook like I am -- especially when I'm getting ready for guests -- it's easy to have a boil-over mess. This is fairly foolproof. And, in the summertime, a stock pot full of boiling water can really turn your kitchen into a swamp.
Also, I freeze pasta in storage bags because it's great to have some on hand for guests. Making three batches, one shells and two farfalles, was a snap.
I went over the water level markings with a red permanent marker so they're easier to read.
Customer Review: Works great in a shoddy microwave Summary: 4 Stars
My husband brought this home as a gift for me two days ago. We were having a 4th of July party and our range heats up our small kitchen so much - he thought the Pasta N' More would save me from being over-heated. I'm pregnant, so the heat really gets to me.
I followed the directions carefully and because our microwave is pretty shoddy, I always add 5 to 10 minutes cook time to recipes that call for 15 or more minutes. We do not have a turntable style.
The pasta turned out well. Not 'perfect', but close. What I do not like is that the strainer lid cannot be left in place and is hard to snap on. The lid DOES stay on really well, though - no spilled pasta.
All in all, I am very happy with this product.
