This set had been recommended on a forum I read (with a link included). It sounded like the perfect way to cook pasta without having the whole house heated up by running the stove (I live in the AZ desert).
When I used it, it performed even better than I anticipated, and the steamer insert produced broccoli crowns cooked to perfection when I used it for the specified amount of time. (and it didn't heat up the house!)
The bonus cookbook had many recipes for foods that are common in our diet (i.e.: chili and beans; broccoli, potato, and cheese soup; spaghetti and sauce; tortalini)
I will be purchasing additional sets for gifting to family members living in the desert, too.

I needed something to good pasta in for the summer when it's just too hot to spend 20 minutes boiling a huge pot of water. I saw this at the local dollar store for [...] bucks so I picked it up. It works very well so far. It's made out of very sturdy plastic and the handles make it very easy to take out of the microwave. Only downside is the cooking times aren't all that clear so it takes some guess work. I added half a pound of pasta and made sure the water covered it well and microwaved it for 12 minutes. It came out perfectly. I do think using will require some trial and error, but for 10 dollars (and a cool house) it's totally worth it.Customer Review: Ordered second one

Love this Pasta Cooker so much that I ordered one for my daughter-in-law.
It is wonderful to cook pasta, have it ready to eat in a very short time. Traditionally, it took 20 minutes to just get the water to boil, now can have it ready to eat in 20 minutes.
Having the handles to use as measuring devices is wonderful. Now I no longer have to guess at how much spagetti I have to cook.
Thank you again for inventing the pasta cooker.
The only suggestion I have for the manufacturer, is to put the cleaning instructions for first time use at the very top of the instruction page, instead of at the end of the second page.

What a time saver! Just put recommended amount of water & pasta, place it in the microwave, and go do other things. No waiting for a big pot of water to boil, no stirring so the pasta won't stick to the bottom of the pot or to each other, and no watching the clock. I prepare my salad or veggies or whatever else I am making while the pasta is cooking. I do taste the pasta when the time is up to make sure it's as al dente as I like it, but it's never wrong!!! Veggies are delish, too. Bought these items for my four daughters as well as for myself. We love this product.Customer Review: Great healthy option.

This has been one of the greatest purchases I have ever made. I use it daily to make a fast, healthy meal with less than 300 calories, less than 200mg of sodium, and 0grams of fat. Just mix a serving of your favorite pasta with a spoonful of tomato paste, throw in a bit of the salted pasta water and maybe a touch of garlic and you'll have a great lunch with no guilt. I even use it to make a full 16oz box of pasta for the whole family a couple of times a week. It has already more than paid for itself. If you're thinking about geting one, do it. You will not regret it.
