Filters water to eliminate cysts and other small chemicals from the drinking water. Saves a lot of plastic water bottles and the environment from disposing of single plastic water bottles. Although my tap water comes from ozone purifying, this adds to the removal of additional material that may be in the water. Great price for genuine PUR filters. 3 filters for $19.99!! Prior to this purchase, I had bought 1 filter at an unmentioned hardware store and paid $11.99 for it. I saw these on Amazon (the exact same filter) plus 3 of them together for a fraction of the price I paid for one. Needless to say, I returned the hardware store filter. As far as I can see these filters work well. I use them for the PUR DS-1800Z 2-Stage Water Dispenser. I didn't make this purchase for everyday water drinking and cooking but basically to mix with reverse osmosis water for my espresso machine which needs water with minerals to detect water levels. I mix this with RO water (which is my main source of water).Customer Review: great tasting water

These filters are great. My water has a strong chlorine taste to it. Once I run it through these filters it tastes like fresh spring water. The instructions indicate to change the filter every 3 months but I get a couple extra months out of them with the water tasting just fine. We've been using our PUR water dispenser for over a year now, in fact we bought a 2nd one just to make sure we were always stocked. The filters work great, water is clean and tastes great.
Pair this setup with some CamelBak water bottles and you'll save yourself tons of money and tons of recycling waste over bottled water.
