No, they don't come anymore with an indicator that the filter needs to be changed. I marked my calendar for 2 months and will check to see if the water flow has slowed considerably before then. In any case, these will fit the old-style upright PUR pitcher and are the Only filters PUR sells now, so what are you gonna do? These new ones need to be soaked in water first then flushed to remove loose charcoal. The water filtered through them is absolutley tasteless. PURfect. These are the same great PUR filters I have been using for years, only better in two ways.
They say the filtration process is improved, I can't swear to that, but I can put in some bad tasting municipal water and come out with very nice water to drink and make coffee with.
The second way I can swear to--the price. At my local Walgreen, Rite Aid or Ace I have to pay $15.00 per filter, at Amazon I get three for $20.00 with free two day Prime shipping! Not much else to say, is there?

My roommates always used Brita, but when I moved out and shopped for a water filter on my own, Pur was definitely the better choice. The filters are better-made and have a more-sophisticated filtering process, plus they automatically tell you when it's time to change them. The pitcher-style filter is best because it's easier to move it in/out of the fridge when I want cold/room temp. water, etc (unlike the under-sink ones that are attached to your faucet). Our water has a strong chlorine smell so I searched for a filter that would take all of the impurities and smells out. I tried other filter systems on the market before I found the Pur System. I have used the Pur water pitcher for about 3 years and I love the way it makes my water taste. These filters are really a great value. We have been using a PUR pitcher water filter system for over a year now. I moved from a small town with non-chlorine & mineral enhanced water, that just tasted like plain water, to a bigger city. I just do not enjoy the flavor of the chlorine & minerals or whatever, and so was not drinking enough water. The PUR pitcher does a GREAT job of filtering out the flavor! It is inexpensive compared to bottled water also. After we move we will probably get a faucet PUR filter :)
