Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator

Customer Review: Does what it should
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading everyone's reviews, I feel like we all can't be talking about this same pitcher. I've had this pitcher for around a year. The water tastes great. Perfect. The plastic has never cracked on me, and I've left it out of the refridgerator multiple times to clean it and such with no problem. Some people were saying it takes 20-30 minutes for the water to filter through. That's crazy! It takes maybe 5 minutes tops. The LED indicator is never going to be 100% accurate because everyone uses a different amount of water. You think people would understand this. That's how it is for any water pitcher. It's more of a guide really to how old it is. How hard is it to notice that your water is tasting a little worse, along with the LED ligth being red, and change the filter. With two adults in my household that both use it, I find one filter is good for around another month to month-and-a-half after the LED turns red, which is a lot of life for one filter. I never found the lid impossible or even difficult to get off. I've never cut my finger or anything like some other people have been saying in the reviews. You do kind of have to get a little nail underneath it to pop it off, but before I read these reviews, I didn't even think of the lid as a problem. It's definately not a deal breaker. I'm sure there's better water filtration pitchers out there, but I know there's probably more that are much worse. I would reccomend it.

Customer Review: So Far So Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had my Pur Pitcher for about 3 weeks now with no problems. I fill it in the sink, sit it on the counter for about 10 minutes to let it filter a bit and then stick it in the fridge.

We use it for a quick glass of water, to fill the coffee pot, or for anything else we feel we want cleaner-than-tap water for.

We certainly do notice a different in taste. The Pur water definitely tastes cleaner. I think we have decent city water to start with, so I am sure that helps with the filtration life, but I do wish it was at least 3 stage and not 2 stage.

I also wich it could fill itself. My significant other usually forgets the recipe for water and I am stuck filling the coffee pot with tap water in the morning ;)

UPDATE: ONE YEAR LATER
Still works like a charm. No cracks that others complained about. Just change the filter regularly and you have delicious, refreshing, clean water. And I am happy to report the GF learned to fill it up when she empties it ;)

Customer Review: Pur water pitcher with LED indicator
Summary: 4 Stars

Purchased this about one month ago. It seems to work well; it hasn't cracked or broken as some others have claimed, and it does take about 15 minutes for the water in the upper reservoir to filter through. The LED indicator seems a little cheesy, though; apparenty it senses when the cover has been removed and bases the life of the filter on how many times the cover is taken off - with the assumption that the upper reservoir gets refilled every time the cover is removed. This doesn't really take into account how spent the filter is, which can vary widely depending on the type and concentration of the pollutants in your tap water. If one was really concerned about water quality, I suspect they'd probably be purchasing a reverse osmosis unit instead of looking at <$20 plastic filters on Amazon. As for me?... I'm planning on buying a second Pur pitcher/filter for my second office.

Customer Review: I love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

I am a water junkie and I wanted to do the right thing and stop buying bottled water at the grocery store. As a water snob, I HATE the taste of tap water and will drink anything else before going to the tap - even when hungover!

The PUR pitcher is the first filtration system I've used and, so far, I love it. Because the water is readily available, I drink much more of it - which is a lot healthier. I love always having water available when I'm thirsty - it's so easy to fill and just keep on hand. The best part about it, though, is that it tastes great!

I've had the pitcher for about a month and haven't yet had to change the filter. I realize that there is a cost to replacing the filter every few months, but I've probably already saved that much by not buying bottled water every week at the store.

Customer Review: Works Great

We are an Agricultural Manufacturing company that produces a biodegradable cornstarch soil additive that helps reduce the need for watering so in an effort to keep the "green" mission we use these water filter pitchers to reduce the plastic bottles in the landfill. I feel really good about using this filter pitcher, but I wish there was a better recycling program for the filters. We do our best to dismantle the filters and recycle everything we can, but like with toner it would be great if we could return these to PUR for recycling.
