Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR 18 Cup Dispenser with One Pitcher Filter DS-1800ZCustomer Review: Quality of water and life of filter Summary: 5 Stars
I have read some of the reviews and agree with many of them that this is the best water filtering system on the market. I noticed that some individuals were concerned because there wasn't any information on how long the filters last. I called the manufacturer and received that information. One filter will last through 40 gallons and I asked how many times do I need to use that one filter to equal 40 gallons. I was informed that using it 10 times would be the life of that specific filter. This is when the water is completely drained from the dispenser. It will last longer if you fill the water before the dispenser is empty. But for me, its easier to calculate it by emptying it out. I just keep a log of each time I fill it up and when it reaches 10 times, I change the filter. I hope that this is helpful to those of you that were confused on when to change the filter. Also, when I do fill it each time, I make sure that I fill it to the very top of the tank. This way you have a better count on the 40 gallon limit on the filter.
Customer Review: Worth every penny! Summary: 5 Stars
I used to buy gallon jugs of water because the water from my faucet tasted horrible. I was very skeptical that after buying this water filter I would be able to then drink my tap water. However, to my surprise, the water is GREAT! I absolutely love it! I have had this product for two years and have not had one problem with it. It gets tons of use. Also, I don't think the filters need to be replaced as often as they say, so you can save some money there. It does start to slow down the filtering the longer you use the same filter. However, if you just fill it up as you get your last cup, you should always have water. We only have a two-person household, so you may need two of these if you have more people. The good news is that it really doesn't take up much room. My fridge is tiny, but this always has a spot. You could also have one in the fridge and one out of the fridge at all times and just switch them out as you go to refill the one in the fridge. Then you would always have sparkling clean, delicious water ready.
Customer Review: Cheap, Convenient, Enviromentally Safe, and Tastes Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this purifier so much I bought 2. We go through a lot of water in our home, and this is much cheaper than paying for my 5 gallon water cooler to get refilled and endless cases of water bottles. I tried Brita and was disappointed it cracked on the side & leaked at the spout within one month and the filters were costly. I seen reviews saying this one leaked too, but I noticed if you fill it too high and something pushes up against the side it leaks a tiny bit. So, don't over fill or have anything heavy up against it when it's full to the max.
These are cost sufficient, easy to use, clean, and refill. Plus, the filters are 3 for $20 on Amazon. Not to even mention, the water itself tastes better than any bottled water I've ever purchased. There is no foul smell either, as I read in another review (perhaps, they need to put some arm and hammer baking soda in their fridge to freshen things up or read the directions on proper cleaning).
I'll never use anything else, ever again.
Customer Review: Pleased with product Summary: 5 Stars
I had been using the big five gallon jugs of water for more than seven years. They were a pain to go and get and even more of a pain storing and replacing. Our water cooler broke the other night and I decided to go on Amazon to research different filters. I read so many good reviews on this Pur Water Dispenser that I decided it was worth a try. Our tap water was awful tasting, so I was a little nervous that the filtered water wouldn't taste good. I was pleasantly suprised when I tried my first glass. The water definitely did not taste like tap water and there weren't any little particles floating around the glass. I am happy now that my water cooler broke. We will save money and time by not having to go get the big jugs of water. It fits nicely in the fridge and is easy to refill. I have found that I will just use a big glass to refill the container after taking a few glasses out instead of taking the whole container out of the fridge. I wish I had switched to this water dispenser a long time ago.
Customer Review: Very effective and a must have in any house Summary: 5 Stars
BACKGROUND: I had a 5 stage water filtration system in my previous apartment which could put any bottled water to shame :) Unfortunately I had to move to a different country and decided not to lug it around. I didn't expect this product to come close to it but I was pleasantly surprised.
PROS: Effective in the sense that it took away the metalic taste in the water and my humidifier is not clogging up as frequently.
CONS: None
NOTE:
1. It doesn't have a water softner - which is expected considering the size of the product.
2. The filters can handle 40 gallons of purification on the average - this works out to a month or less of filtration which is OK considering the fact that we do all our cooking and refill the humidifier with this.
3. Depending upon how fast you consume water it can become tiresome to keep refilling the container. Each cycle would take approximately 15-20 minutes depending upon how long the filter has been in use.
