Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Provo Craft Knifty Knitter round loom series

Customer Review: Warning: Using this product may be severly addicting!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow is the first thing that comes to mind. I have tried to learn to knit, but haven't ever been able to quite get the knack of it. But this...this I learned in less than 5 minutes. I saw a demo of it at a local store and got hooked.

My first project took less than 6 hours (of watching movies and TV no less), cost less than $6, and produced a beautiful (eyelash yarn) scarf and hat for a child. It is truly simple enough for a child to do. I actually had one of these when I was a young child, and I am so glad I found this set so I could expand upon the items to make.

I do agree that the directions that come with the set are less than descriptive or helpful. However, there are several online sites that have instructions, free patters, etc. Yahoo has a few groups dedicated specifically to loom knitting. I highly recommend you attempt to see this product demonstrated, especially if you are a visual learner, like myself. I have also found a few videos online that demo the product and are fairly easy to follow.

Customer Review: I've made about 30 scarves in the last 3 months...
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't needle knit and I can crochet but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my knifty knitter. Picked it up one day on sale and haven't looked back once. These are so remarkable.

The first project to make is a hat and after that the sky is the limit...scarves, blankets, booties, socks, shawls, washcloths, shrugs... I have seen patterns on the internet for just about everything. Once you get going there are also other looms available - provocraft, the people who make the knifty knitter are coming out with new looms soon and I can't wait.

A wonderful thing about these is the wide spacing of the pegs - and while some people like narrow spacing I like the wider spacing. I use up to 4 differnt types of yarn at once and you can only do that with enough spacing between the pegs. The long purple loom is also wonderful and makes a very thick straight panel...

If you are convinced you can't knit, its only because you havent tried the knifty knitter! Cause, yes you can!

Customer Review: We're "hooked"
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought this set last weekend and we've already made over 10 toboggans! I have daughters, ages 11, 10 and 7, and all of them can do this without any trouble at all. It's very easy! Since the set comes with 4 different size circle looms, we can all be working on separate projects at the same time. Having more than one hook would be helpful though. It was very easy to learn and if you buy nice yarn, the hats look store-bought, not homemade. I would suggest using 2 strands to make the toboggans thicker and more practical for really cold weather. I have also ordered a book about using circle looms to learn how to use them for other projects. We'll see how that goes once we get the book. I had thought about buying this loom set for some time but was afraid I wouldn't be happy with the finished product. I can't say enough good about it for someone looking for an easy way to knit. I highly recommend this product!

Customer Review: I couldn't knit, but now I can!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought the Knifty Knitter set last week to give me something to do in the airports over the holidays. I LOVE it. Be careful; it's VERY addicting. So far, I've made 2 hats and half of a scarf. I would have finished the scarf, but I made it too wide. Oh well!

I would highly recommend getting some kind of round loom pattern book if you can find one. I've been looking around for them. Also, you can find a couple of free patterns and instructions online if you look for "round loom patterns". I say this, because the instructions that come with the set are ok, but will only show you how to make hats. It also only shows you one stitch type. Something else to look out for: my pegs are starting to come out of the holes. It's not a big deal, though. It hasn't messed my knitting up, and I would expect it since it's plastic. Also, try actually going to Joann's first. It might be cheaper there.

Customer Review: A great buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first loom set and I'm really glad I got it. Even as slow at knitting as I am, I could punch knit a nice hat in less than an hour. The only minor complaint I have is that it only came with one hook tool. I've been trying to spread the gospel of knitting looms and I'll have to buy a second hook so I can show while others do. Also, it would be nice to have an extra in case the first gets lost. The four looms come in a very durable plastic carrying bag, which is great for storing them. They nest into one another, as shown in the picture, which is also helpful for storage. The instructions that come with the set are helpful, but I admit I didn't use them all that much. I found instructional videos online since I'm more of a visual learner, but the instructions included were impressive.

This is a great knitting loom kit for anyone who wants to start learning about knitting looms!
