Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster BPST02-B Professional Series Blender, BlackCustomer Review: Great deal, a real workhorse Summary: 5 Stars
This blender was a great buy for my husband and me. We make smoothies every day, and our old Osterizer from the 70's was starting to give out on us. We wanted a blender that could take our abuse and also be compatible with our old blender's jar. This blender can crush ice and whip up a smoothie or milkshake in no time, and without having to scrape the sides down during blending like other blenders. We've also made marinades and sauces in it, and they have blended beautifully. I don't know why other reviewers have called this a "loud" blender, because it's just as loud as any other blenders I have heard. The only thing that would make this blender better would be if the base were all-metal instead of die-cast. But even though it is die-cast it is heavy enough to stay still on the counter while blending.
Customer Review: They forgot to pack earplugs with this... Summary: 5 Stars
Not much of a flaw as much as it is a suggestion of what should have been sorted with this item because this thing is a beast. LOUD! In seconds you've basically got yourself a smooth, liquidated drink from whatever you plan to make with it. I tested it out myself having a load of ice tossed into it, gave it the simple flip of the switch, and after a roar of its .5 horsepower motor, the ice nearly disintegrated into this fine mesh of slush which had I left it on any longer would have become water in the matter of a few more seconds.
I often wonder if I'll go deaf of hearing using this product too much because it really is loud, so if you plan on getting this thing, invest in some earplugs, it just might help. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with this item in more ways than I can say.
Customer Review: Countertop Workhorse Summary: 5 Stars
We have owned this blender for 18 months. It has made at least 2 fruit smoothies a day (well almost daily) during that time. It has performed flawlessly! Yes it is loud. Yes it is so powerful that it takes a little learning to discover the best way to build your smoothies (ice first then fruit, protein powder then drizzle the milk in over top so that it filters down to the bottom and finally yogourt) but when you turn this puppy on it really smooths it out.
And Margaritas? Wow!
The all steel drive and powerful motor really make this shine. The beehive shape allows your freshly cleaned glass pitcher to drip dry when turned updside down on the top and it does not effect the electronics.
Why buy plastic when you can get all metal for $10 more?
Customer Review: Professional All-The-Way Summary: 5 Stars
I read the reviews before purchasing and I'm glad I did because this a true professional blender, just like the bartenders use.
So far, I've made hurricanes, mai tais, pina coladas, and margaritas and the crowd was thrilled and so was I. The ice was perfectly crushed (I used bagged and also my countertop Haier HPIM35W Portable/countertop Ice Maker, which I recommend. I do not recommend using that half moon kind that my refrigerator makes, but that kind will do better if you let the ice sit out for 10-15 minutes to soften a bit.
Does what it states, but better than the rest with an all-metal drive and super sharp blades! Bravo, Oster!
Customer Review: Noise?? Summary: 5 Stars
First, I have only used this once so far - I love it. I ordered a waring blender last week, when I washed it the seal on the glass jar leaked. I did switch it on before I returned it and it was far noisier than this one, much, much noisier.
After seeing it I also didn't like the way the waring jar attached to the blender, so I decided to try this one.
The base is a bit larger, hopefully not just form over function, I would probably prefer that it was smaller.
BUT then I made a smoothie, frozen bananas and peaches and it was perfect, I can live with the larger base.
As for the noise, to be honest I don't understand what the problem is. Noise level is fine. I think it is really well made too.
