Customer Review: unsurpassed for slurry ice drinks

Before this we got a simple Beehive from Walmart with a two position rotary switch. Reviewers had whined about the noise, but it did good work. It would develop bubbles at the blades (sound and fury, doing not much) so it required a lot of tending. Unfortunately a spoon left in it caused the motor shaft to break where it's designed to protect idiots from themselves. The model was discontinued everywhere. I settled for one of those programmed Oster blenders from Walmart that falsely advertised 600 watts. Much quieter. If you let it run long enough it does a pretty good job of grinding up the ice. By then it has also melted the ice a lot.
This one is louder than the Beehive described at the top of this review. It grinds the ice so good. It doesn't develop bubbles at the blades. It doesn't bob the slurry up and down. It gets the job done fast. It doesn't melt the ice.

Great blender. I've owned it for two years and treated it with total kid gloves for the first year (dropping in ice when the blender was already on, washing after every use) and still do, but it managed to withstand the fumblings of an extremely sloppy roommate who filled the whole thing with ice before turning it on (notorious for breaking the motor)! Still pristine, the blade is still sharp, motor still running smoothly. Great for smoothies (I still drop in the ice after the blender is on, just to be on the safe side) but don't follow the recipes they include with the blender -- there's no need to add sugar or honey if you use fresh fruit. 1/2 cup milk + 1/2 cup apple juice + 1 banana + large handful strawberries = all you need for a perfect smoothie. And great for soups (potato leek, ginger squash).
Plus it is a totally sweet lookin' blender.

I held off on ordering this model primarily based upon some of the comments regarding noise level, since I tend to be more sensitive to noise than most. While I'm not saying it's quiet (are there any good blenders that are?), I was pleasantly surprised by not having to so much as consider earplugs as a necessary accessory when using it to make a slushie, which it did in no time flat. This machine is fearless when it comes to making snow out of ice cubes, even with very little liquid as a buffer. When it comes to something without any frozen components, the noise level is, of course, much less. It's nice looking, sturdy, powerful, easy to clean, easy to use, and grips the counter like a champ even during the most demanding tasks. I almost paid ten times this much for blender when I decided to take a gamble on this one. It was a good decision :)Customer Review: This blender rocks!

I have purchased several cheap blenders over the years and have had to replace them as the motor burns out or some other feature breaks. I finally decided to buy a "good" blender (ie more costly!). I make a fruit drink every morning for myself and a blended oatmeal drink for my daughter. This blender makes short work of ice cubes, giant pieces of fruit, hot oatmeal and everything else I have thrown at it! It only has two speeds, low and high but I can't imagine what else you would actually need. I also purchased the blender cups that you can mix in and then just flip them over and take them along. They're great too! This blender is easy to clean too. The metal ring that supports the blender container has ample room under it to wipe out any spilled contents easily and the rest of the housing just wipes down.Customer Review: Why did I wait so long....

This blender is what I have been waiting for! The one touch switch is all you need. In seconds you have a professional grade smoothie.
I did not find this to be louder then any others I've used and since it is so fast the noise doesn't bother me anyway.
I have not yet made margarita's in it but I'm sure it will do fine. The blades are very sharp, so be careful when cleaning as I cut myself. Clean-up is easier then any blender I've had. Easy to take apart but I don't even need to every time. I usually take it apart every couple of days. Otherwise just washing with soap and water seems to do the trick.
I would highly recommend this blender! I would have gotten another color other then black though but wasn't thinking at the time, it's kind of industrial looking.
Otherwise I love it.
