Customer Review: tornado mixing great smoothies

To clean I filled 3/4 full of water and it makes an incredable tournado it definitely mixes completely and self cleans. This tornado is very impressive to see and we were both amazed when we did this after we first got it.
I had a head start on making smoothies as I watched a demo of the vitamix at the fair so combining his method with the Oster recipee book heres my recipee: I put 1 cup vanilla yogurt 1 cup apple/cheery juice, 1/4 cantaloupe with rind removed but with seeds (good antoxidents), 1 peeled orange and about 6 frozen strawberries. Turn mixer on then drop ice 1 at a time thru top hole untill it thickens. The tornado doesnt stop unless I add too much ice usually about 10 ice cubes so it mixes and grinds well.
This is the way the vitamix demonstrater did it at the fair and thats a 400.00 dollar machine he even put a stir stick thru the top hole and I don't. It is always completely ground no seed or ice remnants. I never leave on just go as fast as I can and its done. I think those that say it doesnt grind ice don't know the proper way to mix. Liquids are still used to move ice and fruit around in even the most expensive units so add liquids & fruit- mix first- then with mixer on add ice thru top hole in lid.
Its flaws really aren',t that big a deal its loud but its not like I use it all day, in fact, I doubt its running more then a minute. The soft rubberry lid goes on easily and I don't see how it can be hard to put on but sometimes it leaks so I usually hold it down when I turn it on. and thats about it...not bad for a machine costing an 1/8 of the machine we saw. I will try to make a video to demonstrate because we almost waited to get the more expensive machine and would have liked to see this one in action.
