Well worth the extra money, the motor does not get hot after a minute-and-half like cheaper rivals.
Turn it on and off by turning the "head" to left or right.
Appears to be rugged and robust and likely to last a long time.
UPDATE, Feb. 2009: after about six months of light usage it died, it is a one star, avoid it........

This is the best Milkshake Mixer ever!!!! Having said that this is NOT a blender!!! It will NOT mix frozen fruit!!! If you are going to put fruit in your shake make sure it is soft.
