Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 6291 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, WhiteCustomer Review: Check out the colors at Target before you buy this behemoth Summary: 2 Stars
I returned this product for three reasons: color, toast settings and size.
First, the colors were not at all what I perceived in the picture. The colors and finish are far from classy, with the large but imprecise dials and the unmatched shades of white. If you're looking for more style, I highly suggest the black or red finishes over the white finish. Then you'll find black accents instead of gray plastic chrome look-a-like. There are Oster products (different toasters, same color schemes) at Target stores that you can see before you buy.
Second, I wanted a toaster with widely variable toast settings between light and very dark because I toast a variety of breads and thicknesses. This toaster oven has a very narrow band for toast settings, which wouldn't give me the precise control nor repeatable results I wanted.
Third, this toaster oven is HUGE. The counter-monster is designed to hold a whole 12" pizza, and its front and rear faces are curved out to accommodate. So consider that this toaster oven is nearly two feet wide and more than a foot deep. While the proportions in the photo look similar to your standard 4-slice toaster oven, this product is much larger.
To replace this product, I bought an actual 2-slice pop-up toaster (my first-ever departure from toaster ovens). The new toaster is still an Oster, in the snazzy pearlescent red color scheme. When I want a personal pizza, I'll just turn on the full-size oven.
Customer Review: There are better toaster ovens out there. Summary: 2 Stars
Pros: The oven part works great. I like the fact that it is controlled by a timer, meaning that you can set somthing to cook for 20 minutes and then it turns itself off. For cooking things, the double rack is also handy, although you only get one pan (luckily, I saved the pan from my old toaster oven).
Cons: The toaster part is horrible. This thing burns my toast every time, unless I watch it carefully and take it out at precisely the right time. Part of the problem seems to be that the timer doesn't work very well in small increments, and in some cases never turns itself off. Also, the bottom rack is completely useless when toasting, so the fact that they are touting this as a 6-slice toaster oven is misleading.
Customer Review: Toasting happy again Summary: 2 Stars
I've been looking for a decent toaster oven for quite a while and have been using Black & Decker without much luck. Tried the Oster recently and have been pleasantly surprised with the quality. One major drawback is that the silver piece right above the door gets extremely hot and I've been burned the first few times. Otherwise the product is exactly what I've been looking for and I am very happy with the overall oven.
Customer Review: Oster poor quality Summary: 1 Stars
After carefully looking at alternatives I purchased an Oster toaster oven at Target. The design wasn't very good, but . . . acceptable. Then it broke in the first month. Oster makes very poor quality products.
Customer Review: Smaller than Amazon website says it is Summary: 1 Stars
The actual dimensions inside and outside are smaller than the Amazon website lists it. I wanted a bigger one, so returned the Oster back.
