I purchased this steamer based on the ratings I had read. For my first dish I made quartered red potatoes, sliced yellow baby squash, sliced sausage,fresh broccoli and yellow onion. I added oregano,parsley,celery salt and granulated garlic and a bit of chinese stir fry oil. Next time I will use fresh spices as the dried ones seem to steam away. The food was wonderful. The sausage was perfect. This was a big hit with the kids and I can't wait to try another dish again. I wish the book that comes with Oster steamer had more recipes and I wish the Oster website had more as well. I want to try scrambled eggs in the rice cooker dish next.Customer Review: A great steamer....

This is a great steamer for vegetables and other foods. It's elongated shape makes it much easier to steam ears of corn than the ones I've owned in the past. It is easy to operate and clean. I owned one before that had little handles for removing the bottom drip tray, and I always managed to burn my fingers when I attempted to remove it while it was hot. Maybe this is why they opted not to have handles on the drip tray; to force one to let it cool completely before removing the tray. It stores well, with the food baskets fitting into one another. Must larger than the one I owned before, so it holds a good amount of food for any meal!Customer Review: Great for the lazy!

Just cooked my first meal in this steamer...i have to say i was a little worried about the steam stripping out some of the flavor. i was so wrong! i made shrimp and veggies and within about 8 minutes i could smell the great aroma coming out of the steamer. it did a perfect job! i was just guessing on the cook times. i had to do a double-take after tasting my meal, i don't cook this well!
using it couldn't be simpler and clean up is just running some water over the containers, maybe a little soap, and wipe dry.
for $30 you can't beat this. i think my microwave may start to get dusty after buying this.

Hi all,
I have purchased this food steamer couple months ago and keep using it, it is a healthy way to make your vegetables, water heats up in seconds and it is so easy to use end especially to clean. I wouldn't use it for meats because it is plastic, but for vegetables it is just perfect. Good thing about it, you can see the level of water in the front corner, so you won't run out of it.. keeps the food warm, its a good size, not extremly large or anything, one of best steamers I would say, no need to spend more money on more expansive products.
I am very happy with my purchase and would buy again. I recommend to all.

This is the best product I have in my kitchen! This was a replacement to my first one, which was the manual one. Love the 1 hour Keep Warm mode and there is virtually nothing you can't cook in this. I have never used a rice cooker before, and let me tell you, this thing when used as a rice cooker, makes the best rice no matter what type. Veggies, Chicken Breasts, Artichokes, you name it, it comes out amazing in this machine. I reccomend everyone have one of these, and this brand is the best ever. My first one lasted almost 10 years, and the only reason it finally wore out was from being overworked! We use this almost every night
