When I first saw this electric wine opener I was a little skeptical. I mean battery powered, come on. But after watching the review video, I thought, "give it a try". On the first bottle of wine I opened the cork would not come out of the opener. I thought well I've been had. Bummer. As I looked at the situation and tried to figure out what went wrong, I noticed that the cork was turning with the corkscrew. I put my finger on the cork to prevent it from turning and it came right out!!!
I have since opened at least ten (10) bottles and every one worked perfectly. No more putting a finger on the cork. Maybe it just needed to cycle once. I love it and it makes opening wine so easy.

I got this from Amazon a while back. I love mine. I had a Stock the Bar party and it worked on every bottle and the half dozen I've opened since. If you consider yourself a sophisticated wine drinker you may not like it. It is much bigger, louder than I had imagined. Pretend it is a Black n Decker cordless drill with a bit that opens wine. That's all it really is anyway. You really have to grab on when you open the bottle so you tend to feel retarded when the bottle starts to spin out of control. Or some at least some of the girls that have used it looked that way. But I could care less. I like drinking the wine, I'm lazy and a little bit on the gadget side! My husband and I were having such a time opening wine due to arthritis. I saw this and decided to give it a try. It is EXCELLENT! We have not had one bottle that didn't open perfectly and with ease. I was so thrilled, that I bought one for my son. Now he is a real gadget lover person so I thought he might enjoy it too. He is always appreciative when having received a gift but isn't a person who gets effusive. This opener broke that mode. He was thrilled and said that he gets almost giddy when he opens a new bottle of wine. He couldn't rave enough of how well it works, how easy it works and what fun it is to have. My sister has a form of muscular distrophy which considerably weakens her arm, wrist and hand strength. I bought this wine opener as a gift to help her explore her love for wine. Every now and again we buy these sort of products (ie an electric jar opener) and are considerably disappointed by her inability to use them. That is not the case with this item; my sister can now open any corked bottle of wine completely without assistance. Operation is extremely straightforward and easy; it works like a charm!
I highly recommend this product for somebody who loves their wine but doesn't have the hand strength to operate a conventional wine opener.

"When everything else fails, read the directions". I made the mistake of pushing the "down" button to insert the cork remover into the cork, and then pushing the "up" button to bring the cork up out of the bottle. This, of course is wrong. As the directions say, (DUH) push the down button and hold until the cork is completely removed from the bottle. Only use the "up" button after the cork is removed to remove the cork from the cork remover itself. And, I had no problem removing plastic corks by "following directions". I purchased two extra and gave them as gifts, and told the lucky recipients to "read the directions before operating".
