Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, SilverCustomer Review: This blender is not for wimps.. Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my blender for over 2 years with no problems, and I go through blenders pretty quickly. This blender is so efficient that it will chop through almost anything. In fact, it worked so well, my business partner convinced me to 'donate' it to the store. I purchased my blender from a discount store and thought the model was discontinued. That didn't keep me from looking for the same model when I visit retro type stores. I don't know why I did not check the web for this product, but I am here now and about to make a purchase.
In regards to the sound levels this blender produces, it is very loud. With so much power under the hive, there has to be some noise :)
I highly recommend this blender to whoever wants to get the job done. It's loud, powerful, and beautiful all wrapped up in one package.
Customer Review: Old fashion, simple & excellent Summary: 5 Stars
We have gone through 3 of the fancy new model blenders in the past 5 years. Each one was such a disappointment. When the Kitchen Aid blew up, we decided to go for a simple metal base with on-off & pulse. We are so glad we did. It crushes ice beautifully! I have a food processor & immersion blender- so I really just needed a blender for smoothies & shakes. I am not a juice shop- so I did not need a Blend-tec or a blender with that kind of motor. This has 500 watts which is plenty. Yes, it is loud- but it runs for 2 -3 minutes- so who cares. This is perfect. The glass jar is easy to clean and all parts that might wear out are affordable to replace (unlike the Kitchen Aid which melted on to the base). I also bought the special blade for milk shakes- it is great too. Very happy I went with simple. Great retro style.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this blender a little over a month ago, and I really like it. I had to replace my 10yr old Hamilton Beach because I broke the glass jar and could no longer find the replacemet. I looked at very expensive Cuisinarts to KitchenAids, and this one, overall, had the best reviews. I really liked the look and also the price. There seemed to be no advantage to it's more expensive counterparts and I'm glad I got it! I use it everyday to make protein shakes for my family of 5 and I've had no problems. The only draw backs would be that it is very loud, which I did read about in other reviews, and there is no cord storage. As with any blender you must use commen sense and add enough liquid or the blender motor will burn up. It's only been 6 weeks, but I have had no problems and would recommend it.
Customer Review: A very solid product. Summary: 5 Stars
We bought a Braun that broke over and over so we replaced it with this Oster which has run like a champ. It's more noisy than the Braun, and not as modern looking, but has given us absolutely no trouble. After having blenders with a plethora of speed settings, it's interesting that we can do everything we need with this simple three position toggle switch - on, off, pulse. Of course that may be more of a comment on what we do with it, but anyway we are very satisfied with it. The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer is that the plastic top hasn't been improved in probably decades. Eventually they become brittle or warp and have to be replaced. Other manufacturers have solve this. But I'd rather have a blender that works all the time than one that looks nice and is always breaking.
Customer Review: Beehive Blender Behaves Beautifully Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this blender at the same time I bought the book, Green For Life, by Victoria Boutenko. The book is guiding me in the direction of greater happiness through greater health, and the blender is the vehicle taking me there, and in the fast lane. When not in use, the unit looks really good hanging out on my kitchen counter. In use, it couldn't be simpler to make my green smoothies, well, smooth. The speeds are: "on til I turn it off", and pulse, and I guess you could count "off" as the third, and final speed, just in case two speeds just doesn't seem like enough to you. Cleans easy as pie. (o.k. pie is hard for me, so let's say, easy as buttered toast.) I bought a set of the book and blender for my parents, and they are just as pleased as me. .
