Oh sure, I tried other brands, letting the ex keep the old beehive blender when I moved out. We'd inherited that from his parents who'd had since before McCain was born. Workhorse. The blender, I mean.
Big mistake to let that blender go. Tried other brands. Phooey. Finally replaced the beehive. Nothing works like this powerhouse of a blender. Grinds through ice in nothing flat. Smoothies are a cinch. Blends and mixes faster than the food processor. Cleans much more easily. Looks classy on the countertop.
Bonus: the pitcher is one piece: one solid piece of glass: no separate handles, bands or tricky hidden trigger deals in the lid that only sometimes trip the on or off switch ... like the terrible other brand of blender I just threw away.
And who knew you could make Jello desserts in a blender? Dude - you add boiling water to the Jello, crushed ice, other stuff and it sets up in 15 minutes. Shazzam.

I was looking for a blender that crushes ice. This Oster Beehive fits the bill. I've had it for several years. When my child broke the glass pitcher, I received 2 other blenders for Christmas, but I returned both and bought a replacement pitcher from Amazon. My previous blender (a Hamilton Beach) did not crush ice at all, so I gave it away. I use my Oster to make smoothies every day, and it constantly crushes ice to perfection, without leaving any chunks. The design is simple, with one switch (on, off, and pulse), which is all I need. You have to be sure the bottom is screwed on real tight or it will leak a little bit, as with any blender. I'm not very strong, so a few times it has leaked, but very little that's easy to wipe up (not a big mess). I highly recommend this blender, and am shopping to buy one for my mom (to replace that Hamilton Beach I gave her)!Customer Review: Bells and whistles need not apply

The Oster Classic Beehive Blender in Chrome has endured many tasks in my kitchen and now work in my daughter's home. Unlike the more contemporary designs in plastic with buttons galore, this is simple to set up and simple to operate. A single switch gives you a couple options and if you don't mind hearing a blender's motor operate and the ingredients churn, I think you'll be as pleased as us with the output. I have a Cuisinart food processor that I've had for almost 30 years and I find this blender to be just as reliable, sturdy, easy to assemble and a breeze to clean. Blending icy products is no problem and at one time, I even used this for making paper. I also like the beehive shape more than boxy blenders. In my opinion, this is the best blender in the price range and I will buy another to replace the one my daughter has prematurely inherited.Customer Review: I love this blender!

After 25+ years, it was time to retire the old blender, so I did some Internet sleuthing and decided on the Oster Beehive Classic.
All I can say is wow! This blender rocks. Sure, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of some other brands, but what it doesn't have you don't need. Trust me on this. On and Off are the key items.
The powerful motor blends anything effortlessly. Adult drinks with ice, smoothies, sauces. It's a breeze to operate and easy to clean. The sturdy base is tip proof and the glass workbowl/container has the handle on the end, giving you a perfect pouring spout on the diagonal.
I guarantee you will love the Oster Classic.

I bought this blender after some research on which ones were supposed to be top quality. This blender also replaced an earlier Oster blender I purchased about 7 years ago. While this blender only has two modes, pulse and high, I find it does an awesome job. My previous blender had too many options, high, low, chop, blend, grate, etc. My old unit started leaking and the motor was slowly starting to not reach top speeds. This baby takes you back to basics and I have found that's all I really need. I use it almost daily for smoothies (with frozen fruit) and other cooking needs, like salsa. The feel is much more sturdy than my old plastic-base unit and the motor on this one is very powerful. Highly recommended. And, I had to buy this on-line because I was having a very hard time finding it in any local retail stores.
