Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 3883 Belgian Wafflemaker, ChromeCustomer Review: Great Waffle maker Summary: 5 Stars

Customer Review: great buy Summary: 5 Stars
Works very well, easy to use and clean.
Customer Review: Use after Use after Use, I still have my waffles every night. Summary: 4 Stars
Let me start off my saying I vouch for this product, I really do. It has a couple of flaws, but let me get to that in a second. Let me acclaim it for its duties thus far.
I have used this every night for, I don't know, 6 months at least, because I eat Buckwheat waffles religiously. This waffle maker makes them the same every time, takes little time to heat up, and has not presented any CONTINUOUS problems. It is compact, attractive, hasn't tarnished or showed any signs of rust, and is very easy to clean up. I think for the value you are getting a fine product that should last you.
Now the couple of things that deplore me, although they never seem to be consistent.
1. Sometimes it doesn't reach full heat. I always have the dial turned to max, and it does have a light that goes on when it's "ready", but sometime it doesn't always tell the truth mind you, but this only happens rarely, and it always "fixes" itself.
2. Some of the Teflon has flaked off in my waffles a couple of times, which is very annoying, but like I said, has only happened a handful of times out of 200+ times, so I like the probability.
So I like it, I will continue to use it every night till it gives out, which I wouldn't object too because of how much I use it, and I certainly recommend you gives this little waffle maker a try.
Customer Review: A very good value Summary: 4 Stars
I'm not going to pretend this iron is ideal for the waffle gourmet. But as a mom with kids who just wants hot, fresh homemade waffles that are easy to make this iron does a great job, and I paid a super-low price for it. The non-stick surface works fine so far, it seems sturdy and well-made, and my latest batch turned out exactly as I like. I will point out that it's not very large; one batch will serve 1-2 people.
When I tried the manual's recipe for basic waffles with the middle setting, I thought they were dry and pale. Personally, I use a cup of milk per 1 1/4 cups of flour for more moist waffles. I find that turning the iron close to the highest end gives the best results; I didn't get any color on them otherwise (only being willing to wait five minutes per batch). I replaced half the butter the recipe called for with vegetable oil with very good results. Be ready to do different trials to get the results you want.
The iron is perfect for those looking for a basic, inexpensive waffle maker.
Customer Review: Perfect Waffles Every Time Summary: 4 Stars
While I found this product for nearly $10 less at a local big box store, I wanted to add my review. We had an older waffle maker of similar style/different brand which didn't seem to be heating well recently. I wanted a similar style and didn't want to pay a lot as we only use occasionally. The heat control is placed in a better location (our old iron had it on the lower front and it had a very small temperature range - a subsequent move broke a piece of the plastic knob off). We set the temperature at medium or a bit higher and each waffle came out perfectly (we waited a bit before putting the batter in for each subsequent waffle). Perfect for a small family but might not work for larger ones unless you make ahead and keep warm. For the price we are totally satisfied. My only complaint is that the cord is VERY short which while a likely safety issue is a bit of an annoyance.
