Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 3186 Juice-n-Serve 27-Ounce Automatic Citrus Juicer, White

Customer Review: A wonderful juicer - does what it's supposed to do very well!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this juicer a few months ago for juicing lemons and I really didn't expect much from it. I was pleasantly surprised. It juices lemons effortlessly and efficiently. Cleanup is a joy as there are no parts where the pulp/juice can get stuck that a little running water won't take care of. The materials used are very smooth and super easy to clean. I have little strength in my right thumb from several sprains and juicing lemons had always been a chore. Now it's something I look forward to and juice several times a week. The juicer works perfectly. I barely have to squeeze the lemon as I hold it down, squeeze lightly, lift up and squeeze again as the juicer rotates to get the most juice out of the lemon. I only juice 1 or 2 lemons at a time so no need to store the juice in its handy pitcher. The part where you put the lemon on seems to me to be a bit flimsy where you fit it into the container so I'm especially careful when inserting and removing it, but all in all it appears sturdily built even though it is very lightweight, compact and takes up little space on my counter. It looks larger in the pictures. So far, I am absolutely delighted with it and glad I chose it. I'd probably buy the same model if this one breaks.

Customer Review: Works as said, would reccommend.
Summary: 5 Stars

Now, I've only owned hand-held citrus juicers. We have a large orange tree, and a lemon tree that bear quite a bit of fruit, and me being a big drinker, like making lemonade and orange juice from them. It's a lot of work on a hand-held crank juicer, so I tried this out.

I was pleasantly surprised. This is a small juicer, so it can easily take up little space on a counter or in a cupboard, and works efficiently. When I used the hand-held squeezers, it often left a lot of the orange inside the rind, leaving me to, if I was intent enough, go back and squeeze the rest of it myself. This automatic goes right down to the edges, getting every last bit, and in a matter of seconds!

I would certainly recommend this juicer. It's cost-efficient, and gets the most juice from the fruit as possible. My only downfall I noticed, is the strainer leaves a bit of pulp in the juice. If you don't mind pulp? It's great! Otherwise, it's an extra step of straining, which I don't mind, anyhow.

Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to, for cheap!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've worked with commercial citrus juicers in the past and they are tough and effective, but they also cost upwards of $450. This little guy does everything I need it to, for a mere $18 here on Amazon, I can't imagine getting a better deal. I especially like how it will go in reverse if you lift up on the pressure being applied and then press back down, pulls more that way every time. This is VERY easy to clean in minimal time, which of course is ideal. Also, this 3186 does a great job of catching pulp and seeds in it's vented tray. It has a cheap plastic feel to it when lifting it, but works well in action, if you don't press too hard it will be fine. It was either this or the Black and Decker CJ525 counterpart, which isn't in stock at Amazon, so that made my decision easy. So far I have only used this on lemons (doing a cleanse), but it doesn't leave anything but the peel after juicing. Even if it only lasts 6 months from wear and tear it was well worth it.

Customer Review: More fun than anything I've done in the kitchen with my pants on
Summary: 5 Stars

I am completely tickled by how fun this juicer is to use. I read the reviews on a half-dozen under-$40 juicers, and after all the talk of wattage and comparing strainers I just gotta say: Any one of these juicers is better than not having this much fun for one more day!

I've made three large pitchers of lemonade now. The motor seems fine for reaming citrus; the directions say not to juice continuously for too long. Sometimes it's tricky to get the "reverse direction" feature to kick in. The directions say "hand wash only," but life is too short: I put the pitcher, strainer, and rasp all in the dishwasher--so far to no ill effect. The plastic top cover just keeps the dust out when not in use.

This is the best under-$20 I've spent in the kitchen in a long time!

Customer Review: I love this juicer
Summary: 5 Stars

It is light weight, it has a small footprint, it captures the juice in its own pitcher, it juices perfectly, separating pulp/seeds from the juice. It was bought specifically because I had a large supply of Honeybells from Florida and I didn't want to lose them so I went from eating to juicing. I so like this juicer that now I will buy citrus to keep it working. If I had one complaint it would be that it does its job too well and that I might like more pulp in my glass of juice. But even there I can solve that my spooning pulp from the strainer. It has seen hard duty since I bought it, there are no signs that it can't meet the challenge. I have no problems recommending it to purchasers, am thinking of giving it as a gift to some young ones on my gift list.
