Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 2534 Inspire Handheld Mixer with Bonus AttachmentsCustomer Review: No low speed, cord doesn't retract Summary: 2 Stars
I just bought this mixer to use for mixing cookie dough. The lowest speed (1) is very high and it only goes higher. The cord is difficult to retract, and I couldn't get it to retract all the way back into the mixer. There is about 18 inches of retractable cord hanging out. I specifically bought this mixer because the cord feature sounded convenient.
Also, the insert holes for the attachments are not identical, but the beaters are, so it was difficult to tell if I was putting them in the right way.
I'll be returning this mixer.
Customer Review: What a disappointment ! Summary: 2 Stars
I had owned another Oster Hand Mixer for years but the motor finally died. So I ordered this one without reading the reviews. What a disappointment. It is heavy for long use, it is too fast and splatters stuff all over and the beaters are hard to remove. Oh, and the retractable cord is cranky and doesn't always work. I'm looking for a new mixer...any suggestions?
Customer Review: After 3 replacements, lowest speed is too fast - not safe Summary: 2 Stars
The lowest speed is too fast to be operated safely with thick mixtures. Other speeds are marginally faster. I suspect a design flaw that makes it unsafe to operate. It is a powerful mixer with great overall design, but the fact that it cannot mix as slowly as others of the same general type makes it a deal killer.
Customer Review: easily broken, do not buy Summary: 2 Stars
This product looks good but really very fragile. My wife used it only a few times, each time about half hour. And suddenly the shank broke in the middle.
Customer Review: Junk Summary: 1 Stars
Seemed like a good mixer until my spouse accidently put the dough hooks in backwards. (The left hook must go in the left hole, the right hook must go in the right hole.) That locked up one hook, so, even by trying to use my shop vise, I was not able to remove the jammed hook. The lady at the hardware store knew all about the problem when we called. She said, "Oh, that happens all the time, and then the mixer housing is ruined and the mixer will short out and burn up. Happens all the time, hee hee!"
Yes, we made a mistake. But here's the way this situation will develop for most of us: You buy the mixer and read the instructions and use it properly. Then the mixer sits in the cupboard for a while until you forget that it is absolutely CRITICAL to put the left dough hook in the left recepticle and jam it, OR, someone else uses the mixer and jams it and you're then out a mixer and your $35.00 purchase price.
Don't buy This Oster 6 Speed Retractable Cord Hand Mixer. If you have one, you might consider giving it to someone you don't like.
