Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Slap ChopCustomer Review: Great Little Dicer Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this from Wal-mart in section where they have a lot of "As Seen on TV" things. It's very good for chopping nuts, which saves tons of time when making my own trail mix. It also does most fruit that is either peeled or doesn't have a strong skin, but not things like cherries or tomatoes -- the blade stops at the skin and then I have to separate the pieces by hand. Still it's faster than chopping by hand and great for ice cream toppings!
The other thing wrong (hence the minus 2 stars), is that it's not very easy to clean like the guy claims on the commercial. It is NOT dishwasher safe, so has to be washed by hand, and it's not easy to hold so that the housing doesn't keep falling down AND you keep you fingers safe (the blade is VERY sharp) while you wash. The blade is also very narrow so you can't really get a sponge or brush all the way in to the corners, so maybe you should soak it.
Overall, I really like it. It chops most things, fits together nicely, and is easy to assemble & use if not so easy to wash.
Customer Review: Functional... Summary: 3 Stars
I bought the Slap Chop for my dad's birthday, when we first opened the package of course we were hesitant because it's an infomercial product. However, it works just like the commercials and is almost as easy to clean as it says it is. NOT DISHWASHER SAFE! (That's why it's not easy) The Grady is free for a reason... if you are using soft cheeses you might as well be using a regular grater, it's almost harder to use the Grady. My dad does use this a lot and it has been working great for making marinades and salsas and things like that. Good product, could be better.
Customer Review: Slap Chop Summary: 3 Stars
I purshaed the slap chop because I make alot of salads and thought this would make it easy to chop celery and carrots. I have to say that it really does work. You cant use too big of pieces because if you do they get stuck. I guess its called the "slap" chop for a reason because if you just press down it dosnt work. It's very cheaply made and after about a month of use the clear plastic guard dosn't stay tight anymore. When you go to screw it on, it's susposted to lock into place. Other than that I guess its alright. It is a lot faster than using a knife.
Customer Review: slap chop Summary: 3 Stars
On potatos we had to do it 20 times. On tomatos they still stuck together when we slapchopped them. But on carrots it worked good! I just watched the commercial for it and realized that they use it without the little black cup that comes with it. they use it just on the cutting board and seems like it works best that way although i have not used it like that yet.
