Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Omega 4000 Stainless-Steel 1/3-HP Continuous Pulp-Ejection JuicerCustomer Review: Omega 4000 juicer Summary: 5 Stars
I was a serious cyclist about six years ago and used a "Juiceman Junior" three times a day five days a week. I was initially impressed with the unit, especially for the price. Around a year later the bearings in the Juiceman gave up. About this same time, I was married and life took over. Now, seven years later I am looking to get back into cycling and juicing. I have looked at the Omega 4000 several times and compared it with others. I decided on this unit over others based on other reviews and the warranty. I used this unit as soon as it came in. I am happy to say that it performs beautifully. Rather quiet compared to the Juiceman, if I recall correctly. The pulp ejection worked fine and was much dryer compared to that (I feed product in rather slow) ejected from the juiceman. Clean up is no different from what I remember. In my opinion clean up is still too time consuming. Other than making the unit entirely out of stainless, I don't know how it could be easier to clean. If your as picky as me about "clean" a toothbrush works well for the mesh basket. One shot of seven carrots stained the plastic parts as I expected. I am sure by following the provided cleaning tips this can be removed. Plastic parts are; however, far more sturdy than the Juiceman. The juice produced from the Omega 4000 is fantastic, very light on "texture" or pulp. I have been rather hesitant on spending money on another juicer, but hopefully I have made the right choice. Others have commented on good customer support from Omega, that is encouraging. Out of the starting gate I am impressed with the performance of the Omega 4000. We will see what happens in the future, I intend to give this unit a workout! Don't get me wrong the Juiceman is a fair juicer for occasional use, especially for the price. If you are a serious juicer look elsewhere, possibly the Omega 4000.
Customer Review: Well designed machine does a great job Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up on a lightning deal for $129.99 and I am quite happy. I know there are other machines out there for a lot less money, but none of them have the 15 year warranty or performance of this machine, from what I can tell. We have used it a couple of times thus far, and operation is easy, with cleanup being more hassle but not bad. Since the feed spout is only about 3" x 2", you have to cut up apples and similar size items, but the machine really gobbles up the pieces and has lots of semi-quiet power. I wish the outlet spout was slightly higher since we are juicing for 2 to 4 people, but I guess the height is great for people juicing for themselves only into a smaller glass. We found a small stoneware pitcher that fits perfectly and will handle juice for 4 large glasses.
I haven't had a problem with stuff coming out the feed spout- you just cap it with the green plunger as soon as you put the items in there and push them down. The basket is a little tricky to remove for cleaning since it fits snugly on the hexagonal holder, but I am using a table knife inserted carefully under the rim to pry it up a bit- have to be careful not to damage the basket mesh. I wish they had included a cleaning brush, but I'll pick up one with stiff nylon bristles at the $ store. The white plastic lid stained from carrots the first time, but I expected that from other reviews and who cares since it's on the inside?
The juice is delicious- I never realized how much difference there is between fresh apple juice and store-bought. My picky kids give it 2 thumbs up. So far, we've done apples, pears, pineapple, oranges and carrots. Like I said, I am very happy with this well designed juicer.
Customer Review: Fantastic Juicer Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned the Omega 4000 for ten (10) years. It has been exceptional. Customer service, for me, has been remarkable. After nine years of using the juicer, the bowl started to crack. It was a plastic-stainless steel fusion. When I spoke to customer service, they gave me an alternative: I could send the bowl back for them to make a new one, or I could send the whole unit in for a replacement to a newer model with a wider chute. I opted for the latter. The newer juicer -- which I've been using consistently for one year -- is even better, juices more efficiently, and with its wider chute, I don't have to spend nearly as much time cutting my fruits and vegetables before juicing. Truly, I spend less than half the time. Whereas with my original Omega 4000 I could extract, perhaps, 20-25% more juice were I to re-juice the pulp, with the newer Omega 4000, I don't need to. The pulp is exceptionally dry. The process is quick, painless, and makes juicing a delight. My father and close friend own the Champion. They are different than the Omega 4000. In truth, the Omega 8003/8005 is more like the Champion, except that the Omega 8000 series has a slower RPM than the Champion and thus retains more of its nutrients. The Omega 4000 has an RPM in the thousands, I believe, and if enzymatic destruction and oxidation are a concern, perhaps one should consider looking at a different model. I'm not concerned about ruining the nutritional values of my juice, but then again, I typically juice for immediate consumption. For me the Omega 4000 -- with its robust 15 year warranty and phenomenal customer service -- is a top juicer in its class. Highly, highly recommended.
Customer Review: A great machine with a super warranty... Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this juicer for over a month now. I find it works extremely well. I find that I can get 16 oz. of juice from 2 medium apples, one carrot and one average-size orange. The pulp that comes out is fairly dry, and I am satisfied that this machine juices efficiently.
Unlike some of the more popular, less expensive juicers that you see on infomercials, you do have to cut your fruit and vegetables into pieces that fit in the chute. However, some of the juicers featuring extra-wide chutes really weren't designed to have those wide chutes. The manufacturers have just adapted earlier models by adding the wide chutes without changing the overall design to effectively juice whole fruits and vegetables.
This machine is made well enough to last many years. The plastic is very rugged and stain resistant. The steel is surgical stainless steel and will not rust.
Some reviewers mention problems with plastic parts cracking. I called the manufacturer and they told me this is a rare problem that is due to using a dishwasher to clean the unit. This is the same explanation I have read elsewhere on the web. (Although the instructions warn you not to use a dishwasher, the Omega rep I spoke with said they have replaced units damaged in this way.)
At least one review here states that the 15 year warranty is only for the motor. That is wrong. The 15 year warranty covers everything except the stainless steel blade. I called the company to confirm this before ordering. I could not find another juicer with a better or even comparable warranty.
Customer Review: Juice for your health! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I did our research before we bought this juicer. This one has a 15 year warranty! If you've never had juice from a juicer your in for a treat! It is so sweet (without the sugar) and delicious that you won't ever buy bottled juice again. The best part is that your not getting any sugar like the ones you buy in the store.I had been reading about the benefits that you get from juicing and it seems to be good for whatever ailment you may have. I have all good intentions when I buy my fruit and veggies, but much of the time it goes bad before I can eat it all. This is a great way to get your daily intake of vitamins and minerals without having to overeat. Don't worry about it going bad, it will be gone before you know it. I also like that it's easy to assemble, easy to take apart and easy to clean. It does take some preparation such as washing the vegetalbes and fruits and cutting them to fit the shoot, but it's well worth it. However, you don't have to core or peal an apple just cut it into pieces that will fit down the shoot. You can also use the pulp in baking breads and cakes. I haven't tried that yet, but from what I hear it really gives it a nice flavor. If you've got kids who drink a lot of fruit juice, this is so much better for them. I have a friend who's seven year old son can't wait to drink his juice in the morning, and not just the fruit juice. Now that's amazing ! I highly recommend this juicer. A satisfied customer
