after reading some less-than-stellar reviews on this lamp, i was a little leery about purchasing it. with the outrageous pricing on other desk lamps,(probably geared toward doctor and lawyer types...)i decided to give it a try. its a solid lamp, heavy base and all. some complained it's top-heavy, i have had no such problems. its a good light source for a computer desk, and the extra outlet comes in handy for phone charging, etc.Customer Review: nice desk lamp

This lamp serves our needs on our computer desk. It has much softer light than a halogen that we previously purchased even with a CFL bulb. I wish it was an inch or two taller to reach over our large monitor. It would reach over a standard sized monitor. The brushed steel finish is nice for the computer area.Customer Review: Great deal for the money
