This is a really nice desk lamp with great reach and a nice light tone. For those who are unhappy with it's ON/OFF only feature, wanting more light levels, this lamp, because it has no transformer, can in fact be dimmed with a credenza lamp dimmer by Lutron.

I currently am using the above dimmer on this light as I type this review and it works great.

I have no idea why people complain about the quality of construction of this lamp. This is a 40 dollar lamp, you can't expect it to be a museum piece! It is a solidly constructed lamp, with a nice metal finish. It has good weight to it, and provides the perfect amount of light. It comes fully assembled, you just need to insert the included bulb.
As soon as I got it I ordered a second for my friend.

I had one of these lamps next to my bed for two years (with no problems) and loved it so much I bought a second for the other side. It moves up and down with ease and looks very modern and stylish in the room. The light is nice and bright, so it's great for reading before bed (and would be great on a desk), but it would be nice to have a dimmer so it's not so bright first thing in the morning.Customer Review: Normande desk lamp review

Excellent quality!! These lamps were purchased to replace the older version of the same lamp. The older version had a dual brightness on/off switch which had shorted out after four years. The new version has a simple on/off switch which feels more substantial. The size , material,weight and lighting add a touch great for those who need a good reading light. The dispatch and arrival time,excellent . When installing it give no complication.
