One of my best purchases of 2007 was this rice cooker for $7.99. Its great follow the directions that comes with it and you'll never make a bad pot of rice.
Customer Review: I'm happy with this rice cooker Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical about a microwave rice cooker, but this one works great, even for my favorite brown rice.

I love this rice cooker, makes fluffy rice in record time.
Customer Review: Better than average rice cooker for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I had a rice cooker that was taller and better made than this one that unfortunately is no longer being sold. I decided to try this rice cooker and while it's not perfect, it does the job better than a more expensive electric rice cooker I own in a great deal less time. I am writing this review at the time of my 2nd purchase as I use the first one so much that I wanted another. Pros = Rice has always come out perfectly for me. I've never had a problems with under or over cooked rice. The original cooker I purchased has held up well with frequent use in the microwave and cleaning in the dishwasher. I have not had any problems with staining. The price is low. Cons = My only complaint is that I have had a problem with water overflow when cooking more than about 1 and 1/4 cups of dry rice such as minute rice. I get overflow about 70% of the time that I use it. I wish the cooker was taller so that this would not occur. To be honest, I have not paid attention to the material of the rice cooker in terms of the cancer risk and plastics that should not be microwaved but I plan to look into this issue given the review I read on here. I have only used this container for cooking rice and other microwaveable rice and pasta dishes like Lipton's so I cannot speak to how well this works for steaming vegetables but given how it cooks rice, I believe it would do the trick quite nicely within a reasonable amount of time.
Customer Review: Serves its purpose Summary: 4 Stars
I got this rice cooker for free and I was glad to have it after my traditional rice cooker broke. It is basically just a plastic bowl with a strainer and a lid with a vent that can be opened and closed. The quality seems fine to me as I have used it several times and nothing has broken. I find that I always need to add more water and add time to recommendations in the instructions, but once you figure out what works in your microwave its not too hard to adjust accordingly. With that being said, I still think a traditional rice cooker is a better option for cooking rice as there is less room for errors and you can microwave other things (like vegetables) while your rice is cooking. The Nordic Ware rice cooker; however, is cheaper than any traditional rice cooker I've seen and is also great for heating up frozen veggies as you can put the veggies in the strainer. That setup will keep everything moist and allows you to easily remove the unwanted hot water.
