Unfortunately, many of the folks at Amazon do not know what the device is in the picture. They must only use digital timers which cost twice as much but cost much less to manufacture. The kitchen timer that I purchased is outstanding. It works every time and does not require batteries. It will last for years and will not add to the waste stream with used up batteries.
