I was going through ice faster than my ice maker on my SubZero could even come close to keeping up with. You figure for what SubZero charges for their products, it would include at least a decent ice maker, but I guess that would make too much sense. With all my kids doing sports, and each needing a water jug full of ice/water for practices/games every day, I was depleting my ice supply too fast. Was going to spend $2K and get one of those big bad boy ice makers, but thought I would give this a try, figured if it did not work well, just send it back for a refund. WOW is all I can say.
Plugged this deal in, added water and let it run. This thing makes ice very fast about 13-15min/batch. I only make the big cubes, those little ones are a waste in my mind. I basically fill this deal up with water at night, and wake up in the morning with a full bin of ice. We use this machine on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday only, but we use it every week pretty much. Our worthless SubZero ice maker can finally catch up to provide ice for us on Monday & Friday.
We also break this thing out for parties, just fill it up with water, set on the counter, and let everyone just pull from this machine in lieu of the constant opening and closing of our freezer. Once the machine gets in the grove, it works great. The first batch of ice takes a while, but once the first batch is done, its game on. I think this would be a great machine for a lot of different occasions/uses, and once you get used to how it works, and plan ahead on using it, it is a great thing to have around.
