This is essentially a perfume sprayer that has been re-purposed as a martini sprayer. And it turns out that was a good thing to do, because it really works well! Six to eight sprays of vermouth across the top of the martini and it is very dry with no worries that you'll get a little too much in.
I bought this over a year ago, and I'm still using it on a weekly basis, so it is not a gimmick. The only thing that could be better is that it holds very little vermouth, and it is no fun to fill it through the tiny little hole (there is a removable glass vial that comes out for filling).

While one reviewer feels this is simply a toy and not a "must have," I must contest: the simplicity and effectiveness (not to mention the price!) make this sprayer critical.
While everyone's got their own method for mixing a dry martini, this simple spray works great. For me, a spray in the glass before pouring and a slight spritz on the top works perfectly.
It's tiny, it's cheap, and if you're not too vain to take the guesswork out of your mixing, it's a perfect addition to your bar.

I always use one of these to get just the right amount of vermouth into my vodka martinis. There are other methods to try to add small amounts but in my experience, those methods are imprecise and certainly not as elegant as using this sprayer. The Misto Martini Vermouth Sprayer was a nice find for myself. Its a real helpful tool when guests want a really dry martini. Just mist your glass and pour in the chilled gin. Just make sure you keep an eye on it-- its so cute that somone might try to pocket it :)
