Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer, Brushed AluminumCustomer Review: Throw out the PAM Summary: 5 Stars
My wife starts every morning with a fried egg. She had been using PAM spray which was putting a film of oily goo on all of the kitchen surfaces near the stove. I thought there must be a better way and remembered receiving this product some time before as a gift. We brought it out filled it pumped it up and it streamed olive oil, not what we thought it would do. So we read the instructions, poured out 2/3rds of the oil we put in and voila! This product rocks! We have three now! All for different cooking oils, if you want a light spray of oil for pans or salads this is a great gadget. I was in a hurry and broke one, the company has a website, I put in the information and what I broke. Three days later I received the part - no charge! I highly recommened this product and applaud the MISTO company for their no excuses warranty. They look great as well. Read the other reviews for tips on releasing the pressure each time for longevity. I have never had a clog following those tips and have had two in service for well over a year now, and the third for a few months. Great $10 tool for the kitchen!
Customer Review: Misto Oil Sprayer Summary: 5 Stars
I had my spayer for several years and enjoyed it immensly until the cap split. In reseaching I found this to be a commom problem for many useers. Further research showed Misto had changed the material in the cap due to this issue. Since mine had been bought at the Lechter close out sale i figured it was one of the older models. Not really expecting anything, I researched and found the Misto service address back east and sent them a letter asking how to get a replacement cap. Expecting to be told it was going to cost $12 or more to get one (S & H) I was pleasantly surprised when many weeks later I received a replacement cap in the mail. No letter, note or anthing. Some Customer Service Dept. person just dropped one in a packing envelope and mailed it to me. So Misto is #1 in service for me and my Misto sprayer is happily spraying away again.
It does spayer best if you don't release the pressure between uses and just give it one or two pumps when you use it. It helped me to get a better spay when I re-read the directions. I never run out of pan spay with my Misto.
Customer Review: Indispensable kitchen item Summary: 5 Stars
I have had two of these oil sprayers and both have lasted well over 2 years and continue working beautifully. A few of the reviewers seem to have had an epiphany of sorts regarding the amount of oil to use and with regard to relieving the pressure after use to prevent the sprayer from clogging. Ummm, hello! It's in the instruction pamphlet that comes with each Misto---Duh, if all else fails, read the instructions! I consider it an indispensable item in the kitchen because of the multitude of cooking tasks I'm able to perform with it that would, otherwise, be messier, wasteful, and overall more time-consuming. It's great for evenly and lightly (or heavily) coating vegetables before and after cooking, meats prior to grilling, salads, baking dishes prior to filling, cake pans, etc. The fact that it's refillable, and therefore eco-friendly, is a definite plus. And, you have the option to use whatever high quality oil you prefer to use---the choice is yours. Great hostess gift as well. I can't say enough good things about this item.
Customer Review: A Mister for all Seasons Summary: 5 Stars
Okay so my Misto bit the dust.
Well after ten years and the thousands of times I've used mine I think it is time for a review... wink, wink.
The product works.
I have found that the lighter weight oils work best.
Yes all the comments about bringing it up to full pressure for getting a fine mist apply. After my first couple of months use I found that I got a stream rather than a spray. I suspected oil buildup and I was right. Cleaning the MISTO on the inside fixes the misting problem. Now time for my two secrets how to clean the MISTO and how to keep the MISTO Misting forever.
Cleaning: Simple the MISTO can be cleaned with dishsoap... Plus it can be pulled apart so that you can clean the four basic parts separately... To clean the inside run alcohol through the unit... I used EVERCLEAR 100% grain alcohol... Make sure to use food grade alcohol.
Tip: #2 Mix oil and alcohol 50/50 to keep your unit misting... Shake before each use... :)
Have a great day.
Customer Review: Works great, remember to clear by spraying upside down until clear Summary: 5 Stars
This works great, put your favorite oil in, pump and spray. This doesn't produce as fine of mist as Pam spray, but it still produces a nice even coat. A little more blotchy than Pam, but I get straight oil, none of the stuff they put in Pam.
Don't forget to clear the nozzle when done by holding the spray bottle upside down and spray until the pressure is gone. This will clean out the intake tube and prevent the dribbling as the 1 star poster mentioned. Do this in the sink so you don't make a mess. It is also a good idea to clean this occasionally, run some soapy water through it and then rinse until no soap comes out the nozzle.
I am very happy with the Misto oil sprayer, and it works great for bread baking. This doesn't work great for keep the bread from sticking to the a deep bread pan (use Pam or equivalent for this, works better), but it is great for misting the top of the loaves to prevent them from drying during proofing. I reach for my Misto almost every time I cook.
