Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Miele : S4210 Carina Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Melon YellowCustomer Review: Don't get this one for pet hair! Summary: 1 StarsI've had my Miele Antares for about 3 years. My beloved Electrolux needed it's motor replaced and the vacuum salesman convinced me that with what I'd spend on a new motor for my Electrolux, I'd be better off with a new Miele.
Not so, as I am now shopping for a new vacuum. I have one dog and two cats, and the Miele just can't seem to scrub the dog hair off the carpet. The roller brush in the carpet attachment has to be cleaned out every time I vacuum. It is NOT easy to clean---hair has to be cut out of the brush with a scissors, and it's a mess. I seem to have to replace the bags before they are full to get decent suction. I have a tiny house--basically five rooms, and a bag lasts about one week. The pros are that it is lightweight and quiet. The attachments on the handle keep getting knocked off when you go under furniture, and I've already lost the upholstery attachment because they fall off so easily.
It doesn't even do a great job on wood floors. If I run a swiffer over the floor after I vacuum, it picks up so much stuff the vacuum missed.
If you have pet hair...don't buy this vacuum.
Customer Review: My dream vac Summary: 5 StarsAfter hefting a monstrous Hoover upright (I think it was called a Wind Tunnel) around my house for five years, I decided to try a canister vacuum cleaner. Consumer reviews on Amazon led me to the Miele, and I've rarely been as completely satisfied with a purchase.
My house has both wood and tile floors and several large, thick Persian rugs. For these varied surfaces, as well as for upholstery, drapes, and more, the Miele is perfect. I can carry it out to the driveway to clean my car, bring it from room to room for spot cleaning, or put it to work Spring-cleaning my entire house; there's no job too big or too small.
The best thing about the Miele is how quiet it is. My three-year-old daughter couldn't stand to be in the room with me when I used the upright cleaner, but she begs to use the Miele herself--and she's able to use it, too!
Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth every penny. If my Miele ever wears out (doubtful; it's sturdy and obviously very well made), I won't think twice about getting another.
Customer Review: Slob in love Summary: 4 StarsI love having a clean house, but I hated vacuuming with my old vacuum, some cheap-o upright. Vacuuming is a breeze and maybe a little fun with the Miele Carina. I suffer from allergies, have a dog, and live really close to a busy L.A. freeway, I need to vacuum every two days. I have all wood floors in my small cottage style house, this vacuum works great for me, it might not be the best for someone with carpets. One bag lasts me about a month. It does cost about twice the price of most vacuums but it is worth it.
Customer Review: Buy it, get it over with Summary: 5 StarsY'know, I always long to believe that if I pay more for a product, I will actually GET a better product. That I'll have an experience that satisfies -- or, heaven forbid, exceeds -- the expectations raised by the price.
That path so often leads to disappointment.
But not with this puppy. I bought my Miele a year ago now, and I am blissfully happy with it.
How many vacuums have you thrown away? They broke, they stopped sucking, they were so loud your head hurt using them, they didn't filter, the bags were lousy and messy, etc, etc.
It doesn't have to be like that. There is a better vacuum. You're looking at it.
Read the reviews here. Believe them. Look, I just spent five minutes writing about a vacuum cleaner. That takes some special effort from those folks at Miele, let me tell ya.
Customer Review: Nice for tiny, small, little residences. Summary: 2 StarsI live in one story house that's not too big or too small, I can safely say that this vaccuum is a huge pain in the neck. Or should I say back.
Every time I use it, I end up with a back ache and sweating. The extention on the hose and handle is nice, but despite how long it gets, it always, always develops a cramp on my right side. I'm around 5'10" as FYI
When set on carpet mode, the brush for wooden floor still gets dog hair stuck on it so I have to frequently stop and pull it off to get it to get sucked into the bag.
In addition, the cord is about ten feet too short for my taste. With my old vaccuum, a standard push-type, I could get the entire house in two outlets. Miel takes four outlets.
For such an expensive, dual surface (which is kind of nice if not for the above problems) vaccuum, it's become the bane of my household existence.
I will say that the small head size and multiple attachments are great for hard to reach areas. That I love.
