Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Circulon Elite Hard Anodized Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch Deep Skillet Twin Pack

Customer Review: Grrrrrreat Skillets.
Summary: 5 Stars

I llike the skillets very much, would have liked a third one at 12 -14 inches......

Customer Review: Amazon's sizes for these skillets are incorrect
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently received this set of Circulon Elite skillets and am generally quite pleased with them. I use them primarily for omelets and the nonstick finish is working fine so far. Circulon Elite skillets' sides are definitely "deep" and not as angled as many other skillets are.

Amazon states in "Product Features" that these 8-inch and 10-inch skillets are 9 inches and 10.5 inches in diameter. These skillets actually measure 8 inches and 9.625 inches at their greatest diameter. This was disappointing to me since I wanted skillets in the sizes Amazon described. This is Amazon's fault, however; not Circulon's.

In the case of the 8-inch skillet, I've noticed the steel portion of the handle ahead of the silicon grip quickly gets hot even when cooking with moderate heat. I have to make a conscious effort to always keep my hand further back on the handle than I might otherwise. This isn't a factor with the 10-inch skillet since it has a longer handle. None of my other skillets with steel handles transmit heat to the handle as much as this 8-inch Circulon.

Again, overall I'm pleased with these skillets and hope the nonstick finish is durable. The cover off a Cuisinart Chef's Choice stainless 3.5-quart saute pan is a perfect fit on top of the 10-inch Circulon Elite skillet. The cover off a Cuisinart Chef's Choice stainless 3-quart sauce pan is a perfect fit for the 8-inch Circulon Elite skillet.

Customer Review: Still perfect a year later
Summary: 4 Stars

I ran across this skillet twin pack a year ago when I was looking for kitchen items to stock a new apartment. At the time, I decided the price was right for my budget, and if they didn't last I could replace them with better ones down the line. However, after a year of use 2-4 times every week, these are still in perfect shape. I never have problems with food sticking to them, they cook evenly and there are no scratches or funky coatings in the finish.

Proper care is part of the reason they are in such good shape: no non-stick cooking sprays, no metal utensils, and I never put them in the dishwasher, I only hand-wash them.

The 8" size is perfect for cooking meals for one person, and the 10" size is great for slightly larger recipes, or if I double something to make leftovers for work lunches. Even better, I finally found glass lids: the Farberware 8-Inch Glass Lid and Farberware 10-Inch Glass Lid fit as if they were made for these pans.

My only complaint is the same as mentioned frequently by other reviewers: the pans are poorly balanced, so setting an empty or lightly filled pan on the stove results in tipping towards the handle. Adding the above listed lid to the pan does stop them from tipping.

Customer Review: Excellent non-stick performance
Summary: 4 Stars

I've only had these pans for a few weeks, but I'm quite satisfied with them so far.

My use is mainly for eggs and other sticky foods that I find can present problems for otherwise high quality cookware - it seems that durable non-stick surfaces are relatively high technology, whereas all other aspects of top cookware involves quality hand manufacture of relatively low-tech construction.

Anyway, these Circulon pans are medium weight - not quite as thick and heavy as the aforementioned super-premium makes, but heavier than cheapo junk.

And, the non-stick surface is top-notch. Evidently, the grooved surface does indeed work - eggs and other foods hardly stick at all - less than any other new pan I've used. Cleanup is quite easy as a result.

Hopefully, the durability will be as good as claimed by Circulon - but so far, everything about the pans would lead me to believe their claims.

PS The description here is inaccurate in one aspect - this package does not include any covers for the pans. But for frypan uses, you would probably want a splatter shield rather than a cover anyway.

Customer Review: Circulon non-stick skillet twin pack
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall these are nice sturdy deep pans with a better than average capacity due to the depth. The non-stick coating works well. My only complaint, as with others, is that the handle weighs more than the pan causing the pan, when empty, to tip in the direction of the handle. This may be a safety hazard for some. Once food has been added to the pan, it's not a problem, but if you are heating oil in the pan prior to sauteing, you should exercise caution to avoid spills or burns. It would also be nice if Circulon offered optional lids for these pans - in a pinch, a universal lid works.
