Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Metro Microwave Rice Cooker

Customer Review: It's great. I have three of them.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought three of these at Walmart a few years ago and the highest priced one was $6. I was looking for the exact kind to send to my sister. I cook for two and this is perfect for frozen veggies, potatoes, rice, etc. I can put a frozen 16 oz. bag of peas, corn, brussel sprouts, etc in one and add NO water. Just put on the lid and set for about 5 min. on high and the veggies come out perfectly steamed. Green beans are the only ones that aren't cooked as much as we would like but if you like crisp-tender green beans then you can use this for them. Also take fresh potatoes and scrub them well. Peel if desired. Cut into one inch chunks and then put into the cooker. Fill it up to 4/5 full, add NO water and cook for about 7 min. depending on your microwave. Add the seasonings you like and serve. The potatoes are perfect. And Jasmine rice is wonderful in this cooker. Cooking instructions are on the rice bag. I liked this cooker so much that I have two for our home and one for our RV. I'm now ordering two for my very busy sister.

Customer Review: Nice Cooker
Summary: 4 Stars

Hi I was actually just checking amazon for the name of this cooker after having read about some plastics leaching some chemical when heating in the microwave. I've found the name and will reasearch as should you...

But I wanted to post as I have been very happy with this cooker, I too mostly use it for par boiled rice, I purchased it used but in like new shape, but with no instructions, it's designed to vent so I added about an extra 1/4 cup water to the 4 cups water making 1 cup dry rice.

It's been flawless, only gave it 4 stars since it would have been easy to mold in stops for the top, it has stops to keep it from popping off but twisting the lid uder the stops makes it seem cheap.

Customer Review: Functional, but . . .
Summary: 3 Stars

The Metro replaced my no-name rice cooker from Wal-Mart (the locking handle broke). I was not able to get an exact replacement so I tried the Metro. Compared to my old one - it cost more and feels flimsy. I do like the way the lid locks into place. But I have to be very careful not to put to much in it or will boil over and make a mess in the microwave (1 cup or more of rice). My old one was able to handle a cup or more of rice without a problem and it was the same size. I am using the Metro until I can find one that is better.

Customer Review: Good buy
Summary: 3 Stars

I received this metro microwave unsure of whether it could truly do the wonders describe in so many reviews. I have to say, so far so good. The thing is made of hard plastic and can boil water and cook anything in it efficiently and effectively. The only drawback with cooking rice is that after it cools down to the point of cold, the rice hardens. I think this is happening because of the way a microwave works. The moisture is depleted so if you dont eat the rice within 30mins or so, it hardens. Otherwise, not bad for $11 bucks.

Customer Review: DID NOT LIKE IT

I RETURN THE 3013 MICROWAVE RICE COOKER BECAUSE I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH IT .
WHEN COOKING THE COVER DID NOT SEAL PROPERLY,WHICH CAUSE SOME SPILLING OF THE WATER.
I PURCHASED ONE FROM PAMPERED CHEF WHICH HAD A PROPER SEAL IN THE COVER AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS ONE.
MY DAUGHTER RECOMMEND THIS MICROWAVE RICE COOKER SINCE SHE HAS ONE.
I PAID $22.00 PLUS 6,25 FOR SHIPPING.
THE ONE I PURCHASE THRU AMAZON WAS ALSO $22.00 BUT I HAD TO PAY $12.00 FOR SHIPPING.
