Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Messermeister Pro Touch Swivel Peeler

Customer Review: This is a great little device, and it's really sharp

Make certain to avoid cutting yourself, because this little device is fast and easy. It's a good design and effective.

Customer Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought it would be awkward to use because of its size, but it's fantastic! I love it!

Customer Review: Well designed, but a little overhyped
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a well designed product that really does peel vegetables well. Very thin sharp blade makes peeling effortless. Clears itself nearly all the time and it's comfortable to hold.

I did find one flaw with this - the blemish remover. I know most peelers don't even have one, but if it's included I think it should work. This one is a thick plastic point which is not sharp enough to be precise and its shape generally makes you remove too much of the vegetable. I worked on some red potatoes and ended up mangling several using the blemish remover.

I like the peeler very much, but don't see why some people seem to be building a religion around it. I've have kitchenaid peelers that work just as well, and the OXO peelers are well made too. I would say if you have a decent peeler, you don't need this one (unless you get the serrated or julienne model). If you don't own a peeler, this is a good one to own.

It's just not a life changing experience other reviews mention - unless you've been using the cheap metal handled peelers all your life.

Customer Review: This baby peels tomatoes!
Summary: 4 Stars

No more blanching! It is just amazing. I saw them using it on America's Test Kitchen and could not believe it. But it works. The only caveat is that if you're peeling 8 or 10, say for sauce, blanching is still quicker. And for everything else, the OXO peelers are still the best, especially the new "i" series swivel model. But for that "one tomato, peeled and seeded" recipes, this is it.
