I need to make a specific type of tea that requires non-metallic boiled water and this kettle fits the bill perfectly. It is exactly as the product was described;it arrived in a very timely manner from Amazon and the price was very reasonable. The whistle is not too shrill but can be well heard from another room and it's just plain fun to be able to see the water actually boil. The lid easily lifts so I can add the tea to the boiling water but I do recommend that a potholder be used when removing this kettle from the burner. I absolutely love this tea pot. It whistles and boils water exactly like it is supposed to (which I only threw in there because of the review where it said it didn't whistle). The only downside to this tea kettle, is that it doesn't actually hold 12 cups of water. I can get three nice size cups of water out of this, which is exactly what I drink anyways. If you want to make tea for more than two people, you might want to try a different kettle. But this is perfect for one person! I have used this tea pot every day for two weeks now and I have not had any problems. I would recommend to friends!Customer Review: Simple, elegant design

After returning a $30 Kitchenaid curling tea enamel kettle because it was flaking, and the whistle didn't work, I decided to give this a try for $10 at BBB. I'm very happy with the purchase, simple elegant design, high quality lab glass, I love staring at the blue gas flames through the water and glass, and seeing the randomness of the water bubbles boiling. Whistle works, not perfect, but 80% good whistle. If you have an electric coil stove, you have to use the included metal clip under it, I have gas so not an issue. Can't beat the price. Hands down this beats a metal kettle or a plastic plug in one. You avoid any unnecessary chemical or metal exposure. As per one of the older reviews here on the handle getting hot, this will only happen if you have a fairly wide gas burner--one about midway from the center to the edge will avoid the problem. Also, if sediment builds up, I recommend cleaning by swiveling some white vinegar around in it as it loosens sediment. Additionally, the glass will crack if it is cooled down too quickly--or, for example, if you fill again too soon after it was heated.Customer Review: A great little Kettle

I am very happy I bought this Kettle, where I live we have our own well water, we'd been using a regular kettle and the kettle was starting to rust cos of all the iron in the water, now we can see exactly not only when the water needs changing but when the kettle needs cleaning, on a whole I feel a lot safer drinking water from this product and can't recommend this product highly enough, I think you will be quite shocked and surprised what your body has been consuming all this time by using a regular kettle as supposed to this one.
