Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Medelco 12-Cup Glass Stovetop Whistling Kettle

Customer Review: Its a kettle...cant get simpler than that
Summary: 5 Stars

As the title says...for $11 you can't you go wrong. Its a glass kettle, boiling water.

I love mine, heats up great, and if you watch the handle you wont burn yourself.

I put mine on high all the time, I'm just cautious, as anyone cooking anything on a stove should be.

One Tip...when not in use and just on your stove, leave water in it as a weight.

I have accidentally sent an empty kettle flying while doing things on the stove. But if you always keep water in it you are good to go.

For people complaining about it...its an $11 glass kettle what do you want??

Customer Review: Best Tea Kettle
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so pleased with my new glass tea kettle. This is one like my grandma had when I was a kid. The glass will never pit and ruat like the numerous enameled ones that I have bought over the years. I have always wondered about the long-term affects of drinking the water from those aging metal kettles. The whistle on this one is loud enough for me to hear from any room in my house. The price is very reasonable. Oh, and that little metal clover inside...take it out. It goes between the bottom of the kettle (on the outside) and your stove. I found it wasn't even necessary to use on my glass top stove.

Customer Review: Wonderful kettle
Summary: 5 Stars

For years I've used a Sunbeam Hotshot to heat my water for tea, oatmeal, etc but lately I've become more health conscious and because I'm not sure what material the Hotshot uses (the part that touches the boiling water) I decided to try a glass kettle instead. The kettle doesn't heat the water as quickly as the Hotshot does and it isn't quite as convenient either, but it's a wonderful kettle and I have no complaints about it. And I'm not sure if it's my imagination, but my tea tastes a bit better from the kettle - more crisp or something. The only drawback I find is having to remember to use the diffuser.

Customer Review: Great kettle for a great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a glass stovetop kettle to make my tea. The kettle works great. The best part is that its so affordable and sturdy! I would definitely recommend using the kettle on medium heat on a gas stove because the handle gets too warm when used over high heat. Which works out anyway because my brown rice tea needs to be made over medium heat. The whistle is not loud but sufficient to remind me that I have water on the stove. As always use caution with hot glass (don't change the temperature too quickly or it may shatter). I just leave it on the stove to cool off. Thanks for all the great reviews!

Customer Review: Works great on glasstop range on high heat!

We've had the Medelco 1-WK112-BL-4 12-Cup Glass Stovetop Whistling Kettle for 3 years and during that time forgot about using medium heat! While I don't recommend it, we've had no breakage. We use the kettle to boil water for iced tea that we brew for a few minutes directly in the kettle and then pour into our Luminarc Quadro 1-1/2-Quart (57-Ounce) Pitcher. When cool it goes into the fridge undiluted by ice.
