I love this glass kettle! It works perfectly and washes easily in the dishwasher. I've had the kettle for six months and haven't had any problems with it. The kettle boils water, whistles and pours easily. The handle and whistle cap do get hot enough to sometimes need a pot holder (depending on the amount of water boiling and length of time on the burner). The clear glass makes it easy to see how much the water is boiling and it won't rust the way metal kettles often do.
My kettle does get daily use, as I use it with cold press coffee in the mornings and for tea throughout the day. However, I have a gas cooktop, so I've never used the metal insert that is included for electric stoves.

We will always buy this glass kettle. Always?! Well, we have found it to be very good and sturdy, but if you have the heat on a gas stove too high (doesn't need to be high anyway)the handle gets too hot and may get damaged. We are on our second one in 5 years, but if you are careful it should not get damaged at all.
A tremendous advantage of a glass kettle is that you can see if there are any calcium deposits in it and clean them out with vinegar and hot water. The outside cleans well,too. This is not a fragile item, and I think it could be used for flowering tea if you didn't want to spend a lot of money, but you would have to pull the tea out as this is not a teapot with infuser.

At first I was a little hesitant about buyign a glass kettle because of the fear that it would not be durable or get too hot and explode or something crazy like that. However, after using my kettle I absolutely love it! I love the fact that you are able to see what you are boiling, so you avoid that residue that you cant see that builds up in regular kettles. To me the water tastes better when it is boilded in a glass kettle; I use it to boil water for my french press coffee maker and it whistles very loudly! I recommend this kettle to anyone wanting a affordable, durable, glass kettle. Just treat it with care, follow the instructions provided and you will get lots of use out of this kettle!Customer Review: Excellent Product

For my needs, this is the perfect tea kettle. It's great at heating water for french press coffee and boiling water for hot tea. I even steep tea right in the kettle when making iced tea.
The wide mouth makes it easy to clean, and the fact that it is clear makes it a lot easier than your typical tea kettle to tell that it is clean.
The only caveat I've found is that the whistle is rather quiet. I look at this as a positive -- I can make myself a cup of tea early in the morning or late at night without waking my roomate. If you need to know when your water is boiling from another room, though, you may want to consider another product.

I recently bought this glass tea kettle specifically for making tea and I love it. The glass is sturdy and it should definitely last me a while. I like the glass because i'm not afraid of plastics or metals seeping into my water. I like watching the water as it boils, and the design is very pleasing. This is a bargain for the money, and highly functional and practical. If you're debating wether or not to buy it, go ahead and get it now you won't regret it. Some of the reviewers are worried about the plastic lid breaking or the metal thingy getting lost. The answer is simple. If you go to medelco's website you can buy them inexpensively as you need them.
