Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Medelco 12-Cup Glass Stovetop Whistling KettleCustomer Review: What's not to like? Summary: 5 Stars
I recently decided I would like to limit drinking beverages from metal, i.e. coffee pots, canned soda etc. and this tea kettle starts the process. Using filtered water from the fridge boiled in the Medelco kettle and a Chemex beaker/ filter combo, freshly ground coffee makes the best brew I could have. The Medelco kettle works as it's supposed to work with a snug fitting cap and I use the whistling hole to insert a thermometer in order to have the 102 degree water to pour over the coffee grinds. It is used it on a gas stove (no need for a wire insulator) and it is heated over the smallest burner so as not to have the flames come up the side and overheat the handle. It's neat, clean and functional AND it's glass so be careful not to bang it around.
P.S. I also drink Irish tea and it's never been better!

Customer Review: Almost 100% USA Made Stovetop Tea Kettle Summary: 5 Stars
Almost 100% USA Made.
The plastics are very high quality and the glass is the best lab quality glass. The glass is made in Germany but the rest and assembly is in the United States.
I was happy to have had the opportunity to speak with the owner of the company and she gave me some history on the compnay and how her products are made. She would like to have had these mad here in the USA entirely but the quality of lab glass is not available here right now. She was very nice ..heard her dogs in the background.
Don't lift the Thumb Tab when the water is boiling - use your thumb to depress it. No burns that way.
One thing I would like to see some mention on how safe the pastics are when heated, are they tested to be non toxic? I'd presume so.
Thank you Medelco.
Customer Review: great deal, great kettle Summary: 5 Stars
I have to note a couple of things. First off I research a lot of the stuff I buy this kettle included. In some of the reviews customers mentioned hot handles and having to use two hands to pour because of the lid. One review mentioned off setting the kettle so the handle isn't in the line of fire/heat. This worked amazingly, the handle was quite cool. As far as the lid issue, perhaps the design has changed? The lid has in big letters remove lid prior to pouring, I remove the lid before taking the kettle off the stove to pour. I have uploaded a picture of my kettle sitting off center on my electric stove. Everything else about the kettle is true; loud whistle, easy to clean, fast boil. In short THIS IS A GREAT KETTLE FOR UNDER $15. I had an electric plastic kettle but I am phasing out all plastic that is used with heat.
Customer Review: Perfect Teapot Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this whistler kettle brand for over 12 years and Love it! Although the directions say that you should not brew teas in the kettle, I have always done so. I use herbal teas and haven't found that they stain.
The kettle does not impart a metallic taste into the water which is a huge plus.
The whistle of the kettle is quite loud and you can certainly hear it throughout the house. Though, if you are in the same room it will begin with a 'breathy' sound and you can easily make it to the stove to remove from the heat before it gets too loud. I have never found the lid to be too hot, but you should always use caution around boiling water.
I have owned a few of these over the years and they have only broken from being dropped, etc.
Quality kettle & great buy!
Customer Review: This is a quality kettle for a good price Summary: 5 Stars
I have not owned a glass kettle before. I have used metal and they have served me well. I thought this kettle looked pretty cool. It works great on my electric stove. You need a metal wire to place between the heating coil and your kettle. I have not had the handle heat up like some others. I wonder if they left it on the stove too long.
My favorite feature of this kettle is the design. It pours really well. Maybe I have just had cheap pitchers before and the design was poor, but this thing is awesome to use. It pours straight down into my glass, not dripping down the side of the kettle or all over the counter. If it breaks, which i would think is not likely as it's pretty solid, I will get another one if for nothing else, it looks really cool.
