Just perfect to hold the top of the lid of my copper soup pot, and great for lifting handles of other large pots, both on and off the stove, and to drain. Yes, they work great if you just slide them on when you are planning to move the pot/lid, and then slide them off until you need to use it again, not meant to be left on.
