This is a sweet blender for frozen drinks! It shaves the ice BEFORE it blends just like the pro units like island oasis machines do. Its like a baby oasis machine... load the ice on top put your booze and mizer in the glass blender hit the switch... your ice starts to spin and then is shaved and dropped into the blender then its blended... you can add more shaved ice or blend extra with the manual switch to the right.
The price may at first seem like a lot but when you look at what it does and what a pro unit costs (2k) it really is a fair price... its a solid machine built by Sunbeam.
The last thing: its FUN to use !

This blender rocks. I've been looking for a blender that can handle smoothie making and this is the product. It shaves the ice first then drops it into the blender for the actual blending.
As previous people have stated, it's a little loud, however my last blender that couldn't handle the frozen fruit and didn't blend well was also loud. This blends so fast that the noise shouldn't bother anyone.
If you're at all curious as to how big the blender is, it's about the size of my KitchenAid mixer, but less weight. This is a little hard for me to store, since I'm limited on cabinets, so I leave it out on the counter.

The worst part about this machine was defintely the price. Amazon.com sold it for the same price listed everywhere else that had this machine but you know AMAZON.COM is so easy to use and so trustworthy, I decided to surprise my wife and buy her this machine. She LOVES it! Granted, we may need to soon find a Betty Ford clinic as the Margaritas are so addictive, but make no doubt about it....there is no other machine (unless you go industrial and then watch the price) that compares to this one!! I ordered this rather than renting a machine for a party earlier this year. We tested it out beforehand and were very impressed with both the automation and the drink quality. It is made by Oasis, which if you pay attention at most bars and resort, makes the professional version that is the standard. It was a big hit at the party. Even all the beer guys were busy making Frozen drinks, such that the keg was not kicked by the end of the party. I did recently buy the storage bag, because it is large and I wanted to store it cleanly and safely. The bag is very nice and fits the machine securely. After years of trying to make margaritas like we would get in the restaurants without success we finally found a way to do it. We ordered the Margaritaville DM1000 Frozen Concoction Maker and have been very happy with the results. I like how you can adjust the ice mixture to your taste. The maker produces great consistent margaritas just like you would find in a restaurant. You can also make pina coladas and non-alcoholic frozen drinks. Instead of using the maragarita mixes out there try using the frozen lemonade canisters in your supermarket frozen section, they come out great. We like them better than the mixes.
