Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing SystemCustomer Review: Worth every penny! Summary: 5 Stars
I am not one of the latest "as seen on TV" gimmicky products, so I bought this with a healthy amount of skepticism - the positive and negative reviews are pretty split. There are several variations of the boxed set, I bought the one without the juicer (expensive gimmick and bad reviews) or the larger blender pitcher (have one of those). So going bare bones, this is seriously the best thing I've purchased in a very long time!
I've always wanted to make protein shakes daily for a snack or a meal replacement, but absolutely hate getting out the big blender, having to wash it afterward, wash a large cup and making a big messy production out of one simple drink. With the Magic Bullet that's a thing of the past.
It's so easy - and clean, and fast! Put your ingredients in one of the mugs, screw on the blade attachment, flip, pulse for less than 30 seconds, screw on the colored rim and drink in it's own cup. A quick rinse, toss in the dishwasher and you're done! I've made smoothies, milkshakes, coffee frappes - yum.
I gave it 5 stars for this alone despite the fact that I haven't tried many of the other recipes yet. The asparagus soup was gross - epic fail. When I have more time I intend to experiment with the slicing attachment and give those salsas and other recipes a try to see if it lives up to everything it says it can do instead of being just a stellar drink maker. Still, even if it was just a drink maker, I am and would still be thrilled and 100% satisfied.
Customer Review: Just ordered the magic bullet - crossing my fingers Summary: 5 Stars
I just ordered the Magic Bullet despite some of the negative stories from other users. The main reason for my order was the convenience of the unit. My KitchenAid blender is so bulky and difficult to clean that I almost never use it. Many years ago when the blending wand was advertised via infomercial I ordered one. Have never regretted it to this day. Since our second blending wand (Cuisinart the second time around), is losing its power, I am hoping that the Magic Bullet will replace it. I also have a Cuisinart juicer which I don't use because of the loud noise it makes when juicing, the small amount of extracted juice, and the painful cleanup. Even if the juicer does not perform as shown on TV, it can't be as bad as the one I have.
I am looking forward to using my Magic Bullet, and hope that it proves to be close to what the infomercial claims. I bought it on a two-for-one special (talked my sister into one - hope we're still friends after she uses it) and with shipping and handling (which I whole heartedley agree is outrageous) came to $70 each. I don't think that's too bad for a decent kitchen appliance. There are certainly many products on the market that do not perform to what's advertised and for the same price as the Magic Bullet. As with many new gagets, there is a learning curve and reading the reviews on this product, has given me some very good tips on usage.
I'll keep you posted on how my Magic Bullet performs after I receive it.
Customer Review: GREAT FOR SMOOTHIES! But come on, realize the limits people! Summary: 5 Stars
If you are into fitness and you need smoothies at work, this is a dream.
The 3 mugs that this comes with SCREW ONTO THE BLENDER INDIVIDUALLY. So that means you can make three separate smoothies, freeze them overnight, and then take them to work in a cooler. They each have lids too so after you freeze them, pop those lids on there'll be no spilling in that cooler. And then when you're done, wash them in the dishwasher! It's so much easier than using the big glass pitcher with the older blenders.
But come on, it's NOT an all-in-one blender. So don't buy it for that. The infomercial oversells that aspect of this product. I mean come on, grating up cheese in a little blender like this? Don't tell me you people fell for that?!
Tips: 1)Use the cross blade for smoothies. 2) Add ice but do so WITH water. It will make the little blade better at chopping up the ice so you don't have big hunks leftover. 3) Don't blend too long. Give the little guy a break, he's only like 8 inches high! It's a small little blender. 4) Buy the extra cups and lids. So far these are only available at the official Buy The Bullet web site.
It's a smoothie maker, period. A WAY BETTER alternative to the mixer wands made by Braun, etc. And it's my saviour. All the eating options near my work are total American GUT BOMB restaurants like Arby's, Appleby's, TGIF, Chilis, etc. FIGHT THE GREAT AMERICAN WAISTLINE! BUY THE BULLET!
Customer Review: Perfect individual smoothie machine. Well designed and easy to clean. Summary: 5 Stars
I love this product. I find it no more or less sturdy than other blenders or processors, but the size and design make it more versatile, quick to use and easy to clean.
I love having morning smoothies but my blender was such a drama to clean that I had given up on them. The magic bullet makes it so easy, I now have them all the time. The party cups are particularly fabulous for this. My husband and I both like different things in our smoothies so we both each fill up our own party cups. It's great!!
The other thing I love is using the small attachment for dips. I've found that other processors on the market don't make such a smooth mix with just a small amount of ingredient and I don't always want enough dip for a week. With this little cup, you can make enough for one bowl of smooth dip. I particularly like making tuna spread out of canned tuna, celery, carrots and spring onions. Another favourite is hommus from canned chick peas.
I did have a bit of a scare with it at one point when a hard piece of carrot got stuck under the blade. I followed the instructions though, and turned it off immmediately. Even though there was a nasty burning smell, it seemed to recover and is still working fine.
My recommendation is: Do be careful about the instructions, only use it in quick bursts, and be sure to turn it off quickly if something gets stuck, and I think you'll find it serves you well.
Customer Review: Worth my time and money Summary: 5 Stars
I have had my magic bullet for about a year now. I am loving it so is my husband...healthy eaters as we are...we love to make our early morning 2min smoothies on it and off we are to work with them.
I used to make the smoothie earlier on this big grinder of ours, then pour it out into the travel mugs, but nah...we dont have to do that anymore. I wish we had more lids than just two. I didn't have to clean them everyday after work.
I don't put the lids in the dishwasher, neither the blade part but I do put the cups and only on the top rack. I do see the usual transulence of the cups being lost but I think that is but natural.
At most times, I just thoroughly rinse the blades under tap water. And about two times a week, remove the gasket and clean with soap and water.
As far as getting things done with the magic bullet, I am so happy I can get frozen strawberries totally smoothie-ed in it. Ice cubes get crushed easily too. So would almonds..it takes a little longer than 2mins to totally get into powder form.
I have tried to grind fresh coconut too, it takes a little while but it grinds the coconut to almost soft.
I tried to chop onions, they do not get chopped, they get grinded into a paste. I don't use it for chopping anything.
Bottom line, I am happy atleast that I can make our morning smoothies quickly and easyily.
