Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing SystemCustomer Review: Great for smoothies Summary: 5 Stars
I had seen this so many times on the informercial and was skeptical. I finally bought one at Target and couldn't be happier. We have been using ours for about two months. I got it specifically for making smoothies and love the results. Our family's basic recipe is a handful of any frozen fruit (cherries are my favorite), half a banana, a packet of splenda (or a spoon of sugar or honey) and top it off with orange juice. They turn out wonderful and very smooth. I've also made iced chais by filling the mug about half way with ice, two scoops powdered chai and fill amost to the top but not quite all the way with cold water. Mix for a minute or two and they come out perfect! I have tried chopping tomatoes and they turned to mush. I tried chopping onions and they were pureed in seconds and and runny, not good results. Deviled eggs work good in here but only if you are making at least 6 or more eggs or there is just not enough egg yolks to blend it properly. And it gets the blades pretty gunky, while not hard to wash it takes a few minutes.
Bottom line - if you like smoothies and want something that your kids can operate than this is wonderful. Making the smoothies in the provided mugs is a wonderful conveniece and so easy for my kids to do. It is very easy to wash, I just wash the blades under the faucet with a drop of soap and a little kitchen brush. The cups and rings have washed up in our dishwasher perfectly (top rack). I would not replace my standard full size blender with this but it is a nice addition. I'd recommend it only for smoothies or iced drinks. If you want to dice and chop foods, stick with a food processor.
Customer Review: Definitely a useful kitchen tool! I love it! Summary: 5 Stars
This works beautifully! It makes super easy, really good food--I've made soup, smoothies, batters, etc.
This is definitely worth purchasing. I read some of the reviews that said they had problems with it and I was worried, but I haven't had any problems with it. I just made sure to read all the directions, use the right blades, and make sure to follow the directions correctly. It works beautifull and makes it really easy to do things that I normally find tedious and obnoxious, like dicing garlic or chopping fresh parsley, etc. I HATE doing that piddly little work and it's so easy to just throw the garlic and parsley and other herbs that I need into the Magic Bullet and I'm done in 2 seconds. My boyfriend, who is a culinary student, said he'd show me the "easy" way to dice garlic and herbs and I just said, "Why? I can just use the Magic Bullet and I'm done in 2 seconds. I already know an 'easy' way."
The only thing I haven't been able to make work is the juicer. When I tried to make apple juice, a lot of the pulp came through the strainer. It wasn't juice at all, it was sauce. Which was fine, I just ate the applesause--it was a quick way to make it--but I was a little disappointed about not being able to have juice. I didn't try oranges or anything with more juice, though, so I don't know if that would work.
Overall, I'd say buy this--read the directions, don't run it for more than a minute (which it says in the directions and you don't even need to run it for more than a minute), and make cooking a lot easier.
Customer Review: Magic Bullet terrific Summary: 5 Stars
I simply love the Bullet. It has lived up to everything they promised plus. I make a smoothie to die for - made fresh soup - a few bean dips - low fat hot choc that is also to die for - chopped ice - made sauces and soups for one - make an onion and garlic paste to use for dips - can go on and on.
I live right by the water so in the winter it gets real frosty. I come home and bullet a hot chocolaste to drink while I cook my homemade fresh soup in micro - I am eating and all warm and toasty in 30 minutes. I must have bought approx 6 total and gave them out as presents (but I kept 2 for me just in case one breaks) But I am using this juicer for well over 3 yrs and i use it a lot and it still works beautifully!!!!
I am disabled and cannot stand for too long and this is such an ease for me to use. I can chop like a pro in a heartbeat. Am back checking for a chance to buy one for another friend
My regular blender is somewhere in the back of the closet. Now their juicer leaves alot to be desired but I have a good juicer anyway. But if you want great mixes or smoothies or fruit drinks (make one with plain low fat yogurt banana and 2 strawberries and about 10 blueberries) and mix in the boost - whew! And it is a meal replacement! And it is about the size of a sauce jar so it takes up no room. Wish I could get more of of that Boost but waddya gonna do?
Oh and you can make about 3 kinds of dip and then some sauces and have thenm out in no more than 15 minutes - and I did it too
Marvelous invention!!!!
Customer Review: Fun and Easy and Delicious! Summary: 5 Stars
The Magic Bullet is a great product and is easy to use! I'd seen it on TV many times and then a friend of mine got herself one (without each other knowing we both wanted one, so it was funny when she "admitted" she got it and I got all excited). I tried out my friend's for a recipe she was making for me and it worked well.
Eventually I bought myself one (and - shh! - the second one is for my brother as a Christmas gift!) 'cause I just had to have it. My first try was with chocolate mousse. For some reason it didn't turn into mousse; something was wrong with the cream! I tried it again with the other carton of cream I'd gotten and it worked beautifully! YUM!!! :-D
I've made the mousse for others and they all love it! I like to top it off with MB-made whipped cream as well as MB-ground chocolate chips and then a few whole chocolate chips, as well, hehe. (Can you tell I'm a chocoholic?!)
I've also made other things in the MB that have turned out very nicely. I'm looking forward to trying the Alfredo sauce one of these days - yum!!
I've had no problems with the MB - it is solidly built, doesn't break, has no loose parts, etc. Used correctly, it works wonders in the kitchen (and your stomach!).
I also recommend the extra cookbook you can buy separately (in addition to the cookbook that comes with the unit). I got myself one as well as one for my brother (shh! - another part of the Christmas gift!) and one for my friend (shh! That's also a Christmas gift!).
Customer Review: Perfect for a Woman on the Go Summary: 5 Stars
We recently went from "country living" (big house, lots of counter space, 3 hours of commuting a day) to "city living" (luxury apartment, no counter space, lots of entertaining) and needed to find something that helped in food prep but didn't take up the space we no longer had for blenders, foodprocessors, etc.
After 6 months of trying to make my blender/food processor (cuisinart) worth the time and effort to assemble, use and then clean up I followed a recommendation from someone on Weight Watchers and bought a magic bullet from WalMart online.
I've had it a week.
I use it several times a day.
So far we've whipped up phenomenal hummus, excellent pesto, pancakes, smoothies, chicken salad, chocolate mousse - which i made with heavy whipping cream, extra dark cocoa powder and some splenda, and milk shakes. Salsa, alfredo, and soup are on our list.
But my favorite use is for our evening drink. After a long day at work it's wonderful to toss in the ingredients and mix up a martini (recipe in book) or brandy alexander (1.5 oz brandy, 1 oz cream de cacao, 1 oz half & half, 1 ice cube) and serve in a martini glass. A minute later and we're sitting on our balcony enjoying the city lights. No "shaker" to clean, no wasting ice, nothing. Just blend and serve.
My blender and food processor are now put away and I may even go back to grinding my own coffee beans. Most importantly, I'm not wasting valuable time in cleanup. Rinse and dry is my new motto.
