Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System

Customer Review: Awesome little blender
Summary: 5 Stars

I am currently on my second bullet blender and I still absolutely love it. I bought from the website when my first one finally gave out from a lot of use and I got their two for one deal so in a sense, I got two complete systems with the blender and juicer attachments for the price of one. I still have the extra one for when my current one wears out. They do try to push a lot of extra stuff on you when you order over the phone which is annoying but you can always say no and you will still be able to get the two-for-one deal using the infomercial number. I have bought a lot of things off infomercials and they all try to get more out of you so I guess it is just the way they all are. That being said, I will buy this again whenever my extra one wears out and I also bought a 2-for-1 set and gave them as gifts to family. My kids can make their own smoothies and drinks and I don't have a big mess to clean up and I don't have to drop whatever I am doing to pull out the big blender whenever they want a smoothie. It is also healthier and cheaper to buy frozen fruit in bulk and make your own smoothies at home. They taste much better too. My favorite smoothie is 3/4 to 1Cup of nonfat plain yogurt, stuff in as many frozen strawberries as you can, add 4 or more packets of splends depending on how sweet you like it, and some sugar-free orange drink(I like the Orange Great Value drink mix from Wal-Mart-it's like the Crystal Light orange sunrise drink mix but tastes more like tang, yumm). When I need to clean up I just toss the cups and blender blades in the dishwasher(top rack). I also grid coffee beans in it and it works great for that. I blend up eggs for scrambled eggs, omelets or frittatas and it is much better than doing it by hand with a wisk because the scrambled eggs really fluff up. I use it to puree some of my soups to help thicken the broth, mix instant pudding quickly, make homemade salsa(one pulse blends everything up great). . . I can't imagine not having one in my kitchen. I really recommend this product. This is the first product I have ever purchased from an infomercial that actually does what it says.

Customer Review: It works!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read through all of these reviews before purchasing my Magic Bullet. I'm completely skeptical about products advertised in informercials. However, this did look appealing to me because I drink a lot of smoothies with protein powder as meal replacements. So, after reading the complete mixed bag of reviews here (from really bad to glowing recommendations), I decided to purchase one.

Holy smokes! This thing is *amazing*! Like many of the reviewers recommended, I read the complete user manual first. Once I felt I had a good understanding of the technique required, I blended up my first smoothie: 1 whole banana, filled half-way with soy milk, a scoop of protein powder, and some ice. It took a minute or two for me to get used to the device, but once I did it pulverized the ice in no time flat. My first problem was that I didn't put *enough* ingredients into the container, so it didn't push the ice into the blade properly. After adding a bit more ice, problem solved --- perfect frosty smoothie with no large chunks! My regular-sized blender doesn't even begin to compare! Plus, the size of the containers makes a perfect single-serving smoothie. Outstanding! I'm so very pleased with this device. I no longer have to wrestle with my giant, full-sized blender to make my breakfast smoothies. This is going to be such a time-saver. I can blend the drink right in one of the mugs, grab it, and go.

I also tried making chicken salad, and it worked well. I did it without the mayonnaise in the container and just added that after I chopped the chicken, walnuts, and celery. It worked great and didn't turn anything to mush. I can only conclude that those who are having problems with this device aren't following the instructions.

Also, for those of you who are still worried about it breaking, mine came with an option to purchase a 4-year extended warranty for only $15. They'll replace any parts or the gadget itself -- no questions. I'm definitely doing this since I've read so many reviews about parts breaking. So far, mine looks sturdy, but you never know.

Customer Review: Love the Magic Bullet
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Costa Rica from the USA. Most electronics fail in tropical climates, period. VCR before they were not cool, (3) done, DVD, 3 done, Computer (2) done. Magic Bullet have two, still have two ten years later. I use it twice daily, since we grow bananas and other fruit, I freeze them and each day use as ice, mix with soya protein mix, ground flax seeds, other grains to clean my colon, etc. but the point is -- one footprint, coffee grinder, breakfast maker and whatever else.

Don't be fooled, it is a small blender - no crap there. But it does many things like ground your coffee, make my breakfast drink (especially because frozen bananas are softer than ice and don't add water), or - for dinner, stir fry, at the last minute put corn starch with cold water (I actually think ahead and put the whole small magic bullet container part into the freezer, blade and all - because corn starch works better cold but needs mixed) and zip, add to stir fry, thicken cook off a minute and serve.

This is a small, useful blender. For example, you can make salsa by putting all the ingrediants into the bullet, mix. Then use your own hand to cut tomatoes, onions and other wishes into small chunks (I like chunky)later - use the machine for what it does best, cold mixed drinks, breakfast drinks, soup base, base -- coffee grinder, etc.

I love this machine, it has stood up to the tropics with our one, again off again, surge pulse electricity and always made me happy - I could sell these things, in fact , the only reason I'm back is because I let someone stay in my house (a friend) what we do here when we leave to visit the usa, he used the machine - and now says get me one, I'll stay for free.

enough, I was sold a long time ago - but hey, if you can't use it, you can't. If you can, you'll be so happy, rob

ps. I don't make money by selling this, nor nada. I just love this little machine, well worth the money period.

Customer Review: Surprisingly pleased...
Summary: 5 Stars

I happened upon this product months ago in a store because my teen was on a smoothie kick. Turned out the kick wore off 5 minutes before I got home with the unit so it didn't get much use at first. I felt obligated to try a few things, it grated/ground parmesan cheese just fine except for the *really* hard rind, chopped some herbs and it chopped them extremely fine and, yes, had to be scooped out (damp items are *going* to stick to the walls of any blender). At least it was small enough to easily get everything out without a struggle.

But other than that the only thing that really pleased me was its size. I store it in a drawer because it'll get lost in any of the cabinets and digging it out would be a royal pain. Even with the *very small* amount of counter space I have leaving it on the counter isn't any more noticeable or annoying than having a cup in the corner.

However, lately (the last couple of weeks) I and the other kids have been making smoothies. Granted, I start with iced crushed via the refrigerator dispenser but I have never had a problem with unblended ice - I don't even need 10 seconds.

One of the biggest complaints I have with full-sized blenders is cavitation (the blades spinning in an empty space while the contents are untouched above/around the blades). Whether it's the power of the unit (which is more than adequate) or it's size & proportion that has not been a problem at all. You can see *all* the contents consistently being pulled down from the top center and moving up the sides.

And it's a great unit for the kids to use with just a little adult supervision - if the cup isn't on the blades, the unit can't easily be activated.

Admittedly we've done little else with the unit besides a few omelettes which came out great. And as for the recipes that came with it... well, consider the source. Luckily I didn't buy it for the recipes.

Customer Review: It's a Wonderful Product - It's All in the Wrist
Summary: 5 Stars

I never felt driven to write a review of a product before as there are so many others to do that. However, I must write one about the Magic Bullet. We purchased the product from another vendor about 10 months ago when they were offering a two-for-one special on the infomercial. We've never ordered anything from any of those infomercials either. I figured we could always just send the thing back and wait the two years to get our money back and write the whole affair off to inexperience. No need. We love this product. We've used it daily since the day it arrived. We live in the evacuated area of Louisiana during Katrina. During the panicky packing as we were leaving I took my mother's picture under one arm and the Magic Bullet under the other! It's so small we were able to have protein smoothies while we were in the hotels. Gladly and gratefully we were able to return to our home (and our second Magic Bullet!).

I've read the negative reviews and I would offer this, just go lightly on the pressure as you blend. It's not timed...it's all in the wrist. So if you want "chopped" garlic, hit it once lightly. If you want smoothies use longer and harder pressure. That's it. Also, be careful that you do not raise the cup up before the blades stop turning as I can see that this will cause wear on the "teeth". We mostly use it for smoothies. I've owned all kinds of blenders and juicers and the clean up is prohibitive. Who wants to enjoy a smoothie for 5 minutes and clean up for 10...not us. Just a rinse and it's done. I even trust my teen to clean up. When we decided to go for the two-for-one we thought we would send the other unit to other family members. Ha! We decided to buy them their own and kept the second so we could have extra cups! If you don't like this thing then you're using it incorrectly, it's not a robot it's a quick and easy blending instrument. Enjoy!
