My boyfriend bought the battery powered opener gadget similar to this. I tried using it several times and it sounds like it is going to die and is such a pain to use. I like the lack of sharp edges it produced but hating the actual device, so I bought this one. Well first I didnt know how to use this, it is weird looking. But make sure you push it down and snap it onto the can and than wahlah, it works, you dont think it is working as you effortlessly turn the knob, but when you finish going around the can and pull up, the lid comes right off nice and neat and no rough edges. And it makes NO NOISE, the battery one is crummy and a pain, this one is manual but works smoothly and with mimimal frustration. Sharp edges are the past this can opener is the future!Customer Review: I'll never go back

This thing is slick business. It's easier to crank than other openers and it really does leave a non-sharp edge. It's quite amazing.
The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the aesthetics. It could be a little bit more attractive, but.. honestly, who cares? It works great!

Actually this is the second one I got, that impressed I was with the first one! I've been so scared of the sharp edges, but this opener really does a good job, and for the price, better! I'm planning on getting more as gifts.
