i was looking to get rid of the unsanitary and space consuming butcher block set I have had on my counter for several years. I bought new knives a few months ago (victornix brand, highly recommend) and wanted a way to store them in my kitchen without taking up space. I came upon this beauty on one of my shopping sessions on amazon. I thought it was a bit pricey, but finally bought it. So glad i did! It is beautiful, functional and i love how i dont have to go looking thru a drawer for the right knife now. I suggest and recommend this absolutely. Make sure you buy the 20 inch, and not the 15 inch. I have the 20 inch and right now i have about 13 knives on it right now.Customer Review: GRAB AND GO

I was tired of searching for knives in my utensil drawer. My grandparents had a magnet similar to this to hold theirs and I inherited it after their deaths. It wasn't very large or strong so I went on a search for a new one. This one is great. Long enough to hold all the knives I use most often. Strong too. Of course finding a convenient place to hang it is the tricky part. You need a place small children can't reach or the risk one may fall onto you if the knife wasn't placed well enough on the magnet. If you're tired of looking for your knives or scared you're going to cut a finger off digging in that drawer this is the perfect solution.Customer Review: Better Than Expected

We have limited counter space and I have been putting my knives in a utensil caddy. I bought a few wusthof knives that I did not want to damage them and my husband suggested getting a magnet like this one. My concern was that I tend to drop things and would this item hold up.
Well I'm more then happy with this item and can't believe it took me so long to get one. I read the reviews and this holds the knives so well and saves them and so convienent to get to. I would recommend this to anyone with limited counter space or just an easier way to get to your knives if you love to cook like me.

Pros:
Magnet has the right strength. It holds haviest knives but taking off is easy.
20" is the right size. Knives are well spaced and you have some room for utensils.
Solid build from stainless steel.
Cons:
This bar is pretty slim (20mm), therefore knife handle is a little bit close to wall for big hands. I had to put bamboo coasters as spacers at the bar ends.
20" doesn't fit standard stud interval (16" or 24") and original anchors are cheap junk. Buy metal for drywall.
It has metal-metal contact with knives, so you may scratch your superduper damascus blades.

I bought the magnetic holder in conjunction with a fancy knife set for my husband. I didn't want to new knives rattling around in a drawer. This displays them in a professional way - looks like we cook now.
It was very easy to install, and the knives stay on there solid. You have to be careful getting them down though. A twist on the handle to break the magnetic hold is best. If you slide them off, you run the risk of cutting your hand on the blade next to it, or scratching the blade on the holder. It's just a different way of doing things, and so far it worked out really well.
