We had a plain one that we left when we sold our house. This one is stonger and looks a little better. The stonger magnet is double edged (ha, pun intended) the knives hold better but they are a little harder to get off the holder, just twist the knife and you are fine. On the last one some times the knife would not catch and fall. Ouch, when you have good knives.Customer Review: magnetic knife rack FTW

I bought one of these magnetic knife racks a couple weeks ago,it has a strong magnet to hold plenty of metal items, I was suprised at the quality of this item its very sturdy, only took 5 minutes to mount it on my wall, looks great, I only wish I had bought a longer one to hang more of my kitchen utensils on and will probably buy another one.

These magnetic strips firmly hold all my knives and keep the counters clutter free. I tried others only to be dissapointed by their weak magnets and cheap appearance. The stainless steel knife holder has a sleek contemporary design that does blend well with most decor styles. Everyone who comes in and sees this just loves it. I'm getting several for Christmas presents this years to give to all my friends. I mounted mine over the sink because that is where I do most of my slicing and dicing. It also keeps my knives sharper because you're not sliding them in and out of the wood blocks. This stainless steel knife holder mounts easily on any flat surface (presumably the kitchen wall). There are mountiing holes in either end of the holder, and you would either use wall anchors in wall board or screw directly into a wooden backing. The holder is faily heavy-grade magnetic stainless steel. I was not disappointed; would buy again.
