Customer Review: They really DO work, but look around for the knockoff brands

I picked up a dozen in Home Depot for less than $5. Same concept, just a lot cheaper!
Two of them are holding a huge heavy shelf in my kitchen. The hole they make depends upon the weight of what they're holding. I'm sure it's pinhole sized if you're hanging something that weighs a few ounces (in which case, you don't need this - use a pushpin!)
The holes from the shelf are bigger than pin-sized, but it IS a heavy shelf. The hole is still WAY smaller than the hole I'd make using any kind of a hook that would hold such a heavy shelf.
It also takes a little practice to figure out where to hang the hooks (the drop of the hook is below where you might want the thing to actually hang.) This is a small detail, but if you need two of these things and you don't do it right, your object is gonna be crooked. But on the bright side, you won't have a huge hole to patch when you redo it!
Recommended product (but look around for the knockoffs.)

After reading some bad reviews from a few people I was quite scepticle about these items but decided to give them a go.
I cant speak for plaster, but as far as I know these are meant for dry wall anyways.
I have hung a 30 pound item on one hook which is extremly secure and was so easy to use that I have now vowed never to purchase any of the old fashioned hooks again.
I got a total of 40 hooks (2X20 pack) and have hung 4 items so far.
The hooks are very easy to get through the dry wall and just as easy to remove when needed.
The hole that is left is only that of a small nail and can easily be touched up while retaining your hooks in the same condition as when you put them in.
Over all I give this a 5/5 and would suggest this item to other buyers, I was also shocked at just how strong the metal is, I attemped to cut through one with a wire cutter, but the blades of the cutter just bent around the metal of the hercules hook.

I got a set as a gift and used them out of curiosity (I never buy stuff from infomercials). They worked MUCH better than standard dry wall nails and/or dry wall cleats with screws! The hole is SUPER tiny in comparison and if you change your mind on the location of the hanging object, simply twist, pull out the hook and insert to the new location, the hole is so small no patching needed!
I EASILY put these through 3/4" drywall, I'm not sure why people are having issues installing these, it doesn't get any easier.
I WILL NOT test the 150lb load capacity statement, for heavens sake, if your hanging something THAT heavy on dry wall, use a stud finder and anchor it properly into a stud.
I would also echo to keep a set of small nails and a hammer handy, just in case you hit a stud with these hooks, no problem, just sink a small nail in the stud...voila.

I was very skeptical of this product, in large part because of the TV commercials. Nevertheless, I bought a box since I had a number of new framed pictures which needed hanging. What a great product this turned out to be. Just push the end through the wall and turn it so the hook is facing up. No hammer needed. I was also pleasantly surprised by how strong these hooks are. I hung a large framed picture (approx. 4' x 3') with glass on a single hook without thinking twice about it. If you choose to use 2 hooks, the Hercules hooks are also easier to level than regular picture hangers with a nail and separate metal hook. I highly recommend this product. I've used Hercules Hooks for many years now . . . and I love them!! Very easy to use, they don't leave a big hole when you want to change something (like a wall anchor does) and they hold heavy objects on sheet rock securely. I have arthritis in my fingers so sometimes I need a pliers to help get them in, but that's really no problem. I've given them to many friends and they all go out and buy some more. If you happen to hit a stud in the wall, then use a nail . . . but we all know that doesn't happen very often. I've hung pictures, mirrors, art objects, clocks, sconces . . . whatever, and they work beautifully with anything.
As I said . . . try them, you'll like them!!!
